Hungarian Ambassador to Thailand bids farewell to Foreign Minister Kasit

On 19 August 2010, at the Foreign Ministry, Mr. Andras Balogh, Hungarian Ambassador to Thailand, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, on the occasion of the completion of his assignment to the Kingdom.

Foreign Minister Kasit expressed his appreciation to Ambassador Balogh’s positive attitude towards Thailand and his well understanding on the Thai political situation. The Foreign Minister also stressed that the Royal Thai Government attaches importance to the promotion of democratization process in the Kingdom, particularly the decentralization and empowerment of the civil society and independent institutions, such as, the National Anti-Corruption Commission, the Office of the Ombudsman, and the Office of the Election Commission.

In this connection, the Hungarian Ambassador commended the close relations between Hungary and Thailand, and agreed with the Thai side that the promotion of decentralization and the technical assistance from countries of high democratic value will help improve the democratization process in Thailand. On this occasion, the ambassador also extended an invitation to Foreign Minister Kasit to visit Hungary.

After the meeting, Foreign Minister Kasit also hosted a luncheon in honour of Ambassador Balogh.
