On 19 August 2010, Mr. Andriy Beshta, Charg? d’Affaires a.i. of Ukraine, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, at the Foreign Ministry.

After the meeting, Foreign Minister Kasit gave an interview to the press that the discussion covered various issues of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, including possibility of holding the first meeting of the joint commission for bilateral cooperation between the two countries later this year in Thailand, as well as holding a political consultation between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries.

Mr. Beshta stated that both sides also discussed the procurement of the Ukrainian BTR-3E1 armoured personnel carriers by the Royal Thai Government. He asserted that there were incorrect reports concerning the quality of the said armoured personnel carriers. He therefore took this opportunity to provide the correct information to the Thai Foreign Minister and reiterated that the issue would not affect the relations between Thailand and Ukraine, and their future cooperation.
