Foreign Minister Kasit hosts reception dinner in honor of APEC Business Advisory Council

On 24 August 2010, Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, hosted a dinner for 150 distinguished guests attending 3rd APEC Business Advisory Councils, namely Chairman of the APEC Senior Officials' Meeting 2010, ABAC members from private sectors of 21 APEC economies, Deputy Director for Economic Affairs of the Japanese Foreign Ministry, as well as members of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Thai Industries, and the Thai Bankers’ Association.

In his speech, Foreign Minister Kasit stated that Thailand upholds the principle of liberal democracy and affirmed the Kingdom’s determination in promoting good governance among the public and private sectors. He also reassured the participants that Thailand has fully recovered from the global economic downturn as the recent economic growth projection was forecasted up to 6.5-7.5 percent in 2010. Thailand would continue to promote “Creative Thailand” project at the regional and international levels in order to strengthen its economic system.

The dinner was held under the theme of “Creative Rice, Creative Life, Creative Thailand”, with an objective to disseminate information about Thailand’s creative economy, especially products from Thai rice. The event reflected Thailand’s potential as the world’s largest rice exporter and the Thais’ creativity in producing a variety of rice products. The event also included the showcase of Thai rice species, rice-made products, and the demonstration of Thai-rice cuisines.
