Minister of the Prime Minister Office Delegated Policies to NESDB

        On March 16, 2001, Mr.Jaturon Chayseng, Minister of the  Prime Minister Office, and his colleagues visited NESDB for delegating policies and implementation guidelines and was welcomed by Mr.Sansern Wongcha-um, Secretary-General, NESDB, and staff.
Mr.jaturon said that it was honorable to work with the NESDB which was a think tank and an efficient main planning agency that had an important role in the country development. NESDB should, in the changing world, strengthen its role in suggesting the development direction, assessing situation addressing crucial problems and evaluating the implementation relevant to the development plan and the government policies. Another important role were to monitor the critical economic problems such as deficit current account, public debt, and impact of state enterprise implementations and to focus on new importantissues. Moreover, NESDB should disseminate knowledge and understanding about the Nation Economic and Social Development Committee (NESDB) of its mandate, roles, and people's participation.
The urgent mission was the formulation of the Ninth Plan, which had been drafted after having public brainstorm. It would be approved form the NESDB before proposing to the Cabinet. The Minister finally addressed that the quarterly GDP should be announced to public directly without having prior report to the political body.
