The Prime Minister Appointed the New National Economic and Social Development Board

          The Prime Minister appointed the new National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB) as the former members completed their term. The new Board was consisted of 10 experts and 5 official members.
The Prime Minister, Thaksin Shinawaira, appinted the new National Economic and Social Development Board on July 4, 2001 as the former Board complete its term. The new Board was consisted of 10 experts, namely, Mr.Thanong Bidaya as the Chairman, Dr. Praease Wasi, Mr. Panas Simasathien, Mr. Paron Israsene Wasi, Mr. Kasem Snidvongs, Mr. Kosit Panpiemras, Mr. Juree Vichitvadakan, Mr.Krissanapong Kirtikara, Mr. Nipon Poapongsakon, Mr. Prasit Kovilaikool, and the 5 official members Secretary-General of the Civil Service Commission, Director of the Budget Bureau, Director-General of the Fiscal Policy Office, Governor of the Bank of Thailand, and Secretary-General of the National Economic and Social Development Board as a member and the secretariat of Board.
The National Economic and Social Development Act 1978 indicated that the Board must be comprised of 15 members of which 10 members were experts appointed by the Cabinet and the rest were official members. They would be in the completing the term. The Board was responsible for proposing suggestions and recommendations about the National Economic and Social Development Plan to the Cabinet, and coordinating government agencies in formulating and implementing development programmes/projects in order to achieve the objectives of the national economic and social development.
