Caltex Oil (Siam) Limited was incorporated in the Bahamas and later changed its name to Caltex Oil (Thailand) Ltd. Today, Caltex has 571 service stations as well as seven terminals, to serve Thai customers nationwide. In 1996, the company's sales exceeded US$ 1.2 billion (approx. 30,000 million baht).
In November 1996, Caltex 0i1 (Thailand) Ltd. officially announced the launch of its new brand identity program. With a 5-billion-baht investment for the re-imaging program in Thailand over the next three years, the new Caltex's objective is to become the Brand of Choice in its targeted retail markets and it will achieve that objective through a combination of quality, professionalism, service and efficiency. The company will completely change the look of all Caltex service stations nationwide by the year 1999.
Caltex Oil (Thailand) Ltd. operates under three main business units including retail business, lubricant and industrial/commercial groups. The company distributes various fuels including premium and regular unleaded gasoline, and diesel. In addition, COTL also distributes quality lubricants including automotive engine oil, marine engine oil and industrial lubricant oil.

Caltex Oil (Thailand) provides technical and consultative support to government agencies, and cooperates with them in formulating quality standards and guidelines to protect the environment and natural resources.
In further work with the government of Thailand, Caltex Trading and Transport Corporation, in association with the Petroleum Authority of Thailand, a state owned enterprise, have worked together to construct a new refinery in Rayang province, jointly forming the Star Petroleum Refining Company Limited (SPRC). The refinery became fully operational in June 1996. With a capacity to produce 130,000 barrels per stream day of oil, the SPRC refinery supplies high quality petroleum products such as LPG, unleaded gasoline, fuel oil and asphalt to the Thai market.

Mr.Richard K. Abrams Managing Director
Mr.Richard K. Abrams has directed Caltex Oil operations in Thailand in the post of Managing Director since January 1995. With his 25 years with Caltex, he brings a wide range of oil industry experience and skills. Abrams began work with Caltex in 1970, and has held various posts in the company in many subsidiaries in locales as diverse as New York, South Africa, Tanzania, Pakistan, Kenya, and Dallas. Directly prior to coming to Thailand he was with Caltex Malaysia where he also held the position of Chairman/Managing Director.
In the years before joining Caltex, Abrams worked as a manager with Procter & Gamble and as a teaching assistant at Columbia University, both in New York.
An American citizen, Abrams holds a bachelor of science degree in applied chemistry and a masters degree in chemical engineering, both from Columbia University.
Mr.Barry W. Ashman Marketing Director
Mr.Barry W. Ashman joined Caltex Oil (Thailand) as Marketing Director in luly 1996. He is instrumental in planning and implementing all marketing and sales strategies to build up and strengthen the Caltex Brand in Thailand. Mr. Ashman came to Thailand from Caltex Singapore where he held the post of Deputy General Manager Marketing.
Mr. Ashman has spent his entire career life in the oil industry. After graduating with a bachelors degree in econornics from Warwick University, he started working with Texaco, a world-ieading oil firm which is one of the two joint-venture partners of Caltex. Working in a number of subsidiaries within Texaco in Bristol, London, New York and Singapore, Mr. Ashman held varicus positions from operational to top executive levels. He has overseen a wide variety of business areas including marketing, distribution, lubricants, advertising and sales promotion, service stations, quaiity process, and others.
Yuttasak Phravisai Product Co-ordinator Lubricant Marketing and Technical Services
Khun Yuttasak Phravisai is product co-ordinator in the lube marketing and technical service department, responsible for both fuel and lubricant products. He also works on new product development, as well as co-ordinating activities with a number of government agencies related to the oil industry. Currently, his main responsibility is lubricant co-ordinator, taking care of marketing industrial lubricants in Thailand.
Yuttasak joined Caltex Oil (Thailand) Ltd. in February 1991 as technical services engineer, Prior to joining Caltex oil, Yuttasak spent two years as a process engineer for Thai Paper Co Ltd, a subsidiary of the Siam Cement Croup.
Yuttasak is also a member of the TISI (Thai Industrial Standard Institute) standards Committee, involved in projects such as the Two Stroke Engine Oil, Engine Oil and Engine Coolant Standards.
Yuttasak earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the King Mongkut Institute of Technology. He is now working towards a Master's degree in Marketing (MIM) at Thammasat University, as part of which he was also a MBA exchange student at McGiii University in Canada. End
