Honda, Thailand’s motorcycle market leader, is again launching another surprise for the young riders with the New Scoopy i S12 and its new chic presenter.
Eve “Palmy” Pancharoen will be delivering the new concept of “The New Original by Honda” to reflect the new retro fashion in the motorcycle market. The New Scoopy i features the 12-inch cast wheels, retro design, and “The Twist” — unique design on both sides of body for those in love with the retro style for the first time in Thailand. The model is also outstanding for its 12-inch cast wheels and wide tubeless tyres, which have been designed to cling on all types of road surfaces. The 4-stroke engine and PGM-FI technology maximises the fuel efficiency at 53km/litre, based on ECE R40MODE. The new model is available in three two-tone shades which are: White-Green, Blue-Orange, and Black-Grey. The New Scoopy i will be available nationwide on July 8, with price starting from Bt48,500. Market forecast is set at 60,000 units per year.

The model also caters to the potential group seeking a motorcycle that reflects their unique character. “The Twist”, featuring unique retro graphics on both sides of body on each motorcycle, has therefore been designed especially for the new target group. It is the first of its kind in the local motorcycle industry. Honda has also added the 12-inch cast wheels, wide tubeless tyres, and combi-brake for safety ride on all types of road surfaces. The efficient 4-stroke engine and PGM-FI technology also enhance the fuel efficiency,” said Mr Chiaki Kato, President of AP Honda Co Ltd.
Designed to be the new original, Scoopy i S12, The New Original by Honda, features the retro graphics on the retro body. “The Twist” concept allows both sides of the chassis of a motorcycle to have a uniquely independent design. The retro touch stands out in its two-tone shades, reflecting the unique character of the riders. The 12-inch cast wheels and wide tubeless tyres cling on to all types of road surfaces and make every trip a confident and safety ride home. The tubeless tyres take away the problem of immediate flat tyre. The model also features Exclusive Projector Head Light, Blue Ring, built-in Senior Tail Light, and aluminium Ribbon Rear Grab. The 15.4-litre Helmet-In L Size U-Box fits a full-face helmet. The Combi-Brake technology diffuses brake force to both wheels. Brake Lock Lever, like that equipped in a car, prevents any possible slips. Side Stand Switch is automatic in operation when the side stand is lowered.
Technical-wise, New Scoopy i S12 is powered by a 110cc, 4-stroke engine and PGM-FI technology. The fuel efficiency performs at 53km/litre, based on ECE R40 Mode. The engine has also been approved by Enhanced Environmentally Friendly Vehicle 6 and for E20 gasoline.
To deliver the new image, Honda is introducing Palmy, a Belgian-Thai pop idol, as the new presenter for the New Scoopy i S12.
“Palmy’s unique character will best deliver the distinctive character of the New Scoopy i S12; be it her costumes and the music genre. All unique. Palmy is the best to reflect the New Original concept. The new model has been designed especially for those who have great passion for the retro style,” said Mr Chiaki.
Honda has planned to launch the distribution of new Scoopy i S12 on July 8, 2012 nationwide, together with the TV commercial. The new model comes with three two-tone shades which are White-Green, Blue-Orange, and Black-Grey. Price starts from Bt48,500. The market forecast is set at 60,000 units in a year.
