Tourism Leaders Unite in Thailand to Mark Shared Founding Date of Rome and Bangkok

This week, the Thai-Italian Chamber of Commerce (TICC), in collaboration with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), united professionals from across the tourism and hospitality sectors to host the "Foundation of Rome & Bangkok - Grand Celebration Event" on Monday, 21 April 2025. The event took place at Siri Sala Private Thai Villa in Bangkok Noi, one of the filming locations for the hugely popular third season of The White Lotus.

The event marked the shared founding date of Rome and Bangkok (21 April 753 BC and 1782 AD, respectively), highlighting a unique historical alignment between the two capital cities. The occasion served as a platform to reinforce cultural and economic ties between Thailand and Italy, with guests including destination management companies, hoteliers, travel agencies, institutional representatives, media, and influencers.

The event opened with a moment of silence to honour the late Pope Francis, who passed away on Monday, April 21st. The night's programme also featured a panel discussion titled "Bridging Cultures Through Tourism - Thailand & Italy in Focus", which featured four expert speakers and explored opportunities for cooperation between the two countries.

The event was made more vibrant by the presence of several booth activities for the promotion of local and international companies. A networking cocktail reception followed the panel discussion, facilitating dialogue and collaboration between tourism stakeholders.

The booth activities and reception were made possible thanks to: Sala Private Thai Villa, Conserve Italia Soc. Coop. Agricola (Cirio) & Alma Culinary School, Generali Life Assurance, Sala Private Thai Villa, Eva Air, Air India, Albero The Modern Gelato, Closer Asia, Italasia, San Benedetto, Great Earth International, Caffe Vergnano, Rocket Espresso Milano, Villa Tantawan Spa and Resort, Respect Group, Turn To Art, Kapuhala, Heritage Snacks & Food, Next Step Wine, and Tenuta Viglione.

MIDAS PR Group and Thaiger Media provided media support.

The Thai-Italian Chamber of Commerce and the Tourism Authority of Thailand continue to promote bilateral relations through events that encourage knowledge exchange and tourism growth between the two countries.
