Bangkok--14 Aug--ONYX Hospitality Group
ONYX Hospitality Group led by Peter Henley, President and CEO (centre), recently handed over a donation worth 500,000 THB to Stephanie des Arts-Loup, Founder of Pimali Hospitality Training Centre (second from right).
Following the initial donation of 50,000 THB raised by Amari Hua Hin through the Amateur Golf Week's raffle, ONYX Hospitality Group Foundation has made the additional financial contribution worth 500,000 THB through a Baht for a Better Life (BBL) programme initiative. The donation will be used to support the construction of Pimali Hospitality Training Centre, which aims to provide professional and practical hospitality training to underprivileged Thai youth, so that they could become financially independent and able to sustain their future. In addition to a donation, ONYX has been providing ongoing consultancy on the design and facilities of the training centre, as well as the construction and procurement process review and will support an internship programme for their students once the centre is operational.
Established in Nong Khai, a few kilometres from the border with Laos and close to the Mekong River, the Pimali Hospitality Training Centre is scheduled to open its door in November 2015. The centre's curriculum will cover three main areas in the hospitality industry, including kitchen and service, housekeeping, and general knowledge such as English and information technology, with a nine-month theoretical and practical training followed by a three-month internship. The centre will accept 34 underprivileged young Thai students in the first year of its operation.
