Thailand shows the world its readiness in joining the Astana Expo 2017 after being the first country to officially launch the "Thailand Pavilion"on June 10, 2017 and now aiming to be voted the most popular pavilion by international media and visitors
(June 10, 2017) Gen.Surasak Srisak, Vice Minister of Energy reveals that the International Recognised Exhibition or Astana Expo 2017, held in Astana, Kazakhstan with the theme "future energy" is expected to be seeing participants from 115 countries and 20 international organisations from around the world attend the event which is held on a 1.74 million square meter plot of land. The Thailand Pavilion or Sala Thai was the first country pavilion to be fully finished and officially opened to visitors from today onwards. He is confident this three-month period between June 10 to September10 will see the Thailand Pavilion become one of the top-voted and most-visited country pavilions of the expected 500,000 visitors from all around the world.
The Vice Minister believes, participating in the Astana Expo is a great opportunity for Thailand to show the world Thailand's readiness and potential which will also benefit Thailand in the tourism, cultural and exporting agricultural sectors as well as help boost the economy. This event will also strengthen the ties between Thailand and other countries especially Kazakhstan and CIS nations, as well as revealing the Thai government's renewable energy policy internationally in terms of using and producing energy from agricultural products efficiently. This, in turn, will uplift the price of Thai agricultural products and support more energy development which suits the local communities in Thailand.
This policy correlates the Thai government's intention to adhere to the Paris' COP21 in 2014, in which General Prayut Chan-ocha Prime Minister of Thailand joined the fight against climate change at the international level. Thailand aims to reduce its carbon emissions by 20-25% within 2030, by emphasising the implementation of renewable energy. In practice, Thailand also launched its energy development plan or PDP2015 which aims to reduce the use of fossil fuels nationwide to 30% in 2036. We can say that the Thai government has a clear and sincere approach towards the world.
