The Capital Market Development Fund (CMDF)'s Board of Governors resolved to appoint Mr. Chanant Charnchainarong to take up the position of the president of CMDF, with a four-year term starting from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2023.
CMDF's Board of Governors was of the opinion that, with his leadership experience and expertise, he will be capable of leading CMDF to achieve the set objectives.
Chanant, aged 52, holds a MBA from Seattle University, USA, and a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi, Thailand. Prior to joining CMDF, Chanant spent over 15 years at BNP Paribas in various leadership positions, including Head of Fixed Income & ALM Treasury Thailand, Head of Global Markets Southeast Asia and India, Head of Corporates Global Markets Asia Pacific, and with the last position as Senior Advisor, Global Markets, Asia Pacific. Chanant also worked at Chase Manhattan Bank, UBS Warburg, and Deutsche Bank respectively.
Pursuant to the Securities and Exchange Act (No. 6) B.E. 2562 (A.D. 2019) Sections 218/17 and 218/18, it requires that the "President of the Capital Market Development Fund (CMDF)" shall be appointed to be responsible for the management of CMDF in accordance with the objectives of the CMDF, as well as the laws, rules and regulations, including the policy specified by CMDF's Board of Governors.
