Gojek expands COVID-19 relief efforts in Thailand

Gojek, Southeast Asia's leading mobile on-demand services platform, today announced new initiatives under its GoStronger initiative, an effort first launched in March 2020 to help keep people safe, as well as to ease the lives of its consumers, drivers and merchants amid the pandemic.

To help reduce expenses for its MSME merchants, Gojek is lowering commission fees through two options. They may either receive a discount on their commission, so as not to exceed 25%; or apply their commission reduction towards discounts for customers in order to increase sales and offer support during this period. The commission rate reduction will run from June 1-30, 2021.

Gojek will offer 15-20% discounts on all orders of participating merchant partners throughout the one month period. Interested merchant partners can register via an online form from May 24-30, 2021.

To help reduce daily living expenses for users, Gojek is cooperating with the Department of Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce, on their "The Eleventh Commerce's National Discount Campaign," to offer discounts on GoFood (food-delivery service) and GoSend (courier service) from May 24 - June 27, 2021. When ordering these services in the Gojek app, users can apply the following discounts:

  • Up to 50% off GoFood orders every week with the code GOSTRONGER (one voucher / one user / week, maximum 50THB, minimum spend 100THB; limited redemption, valid for merchant partners only)
  • A 12THB delivery discount on GoFood orders every week with the code GOTOGETHER (one voucher / one user / week, no minimum spend, limited redemption, valid for merchant partners only)
  • A 20THB discount on GoSend orders every week with the code GJSEND (one voucher / one user / week, no minimum spend, limited redemption).

Shri Chakravarthy, Gojek Thailand's Country General Manager said, "Since the beginning of the pandemic, Gojek has been prioritizing the health, safety and livelihoods of our merchant partners, driver partners and consumers. We're committed to leveraging our ecosystem to help keep everyone safe, as well to provide as much normality and productivity for our users as we can. We've continued to do this through a holistic approach that combines tech innovation, health and safety awareness and partnerships with government agencies and business allies."

Ongoing measures under GoStronger include:

  • Contactless delivery on GoFood orders - Gojek continues to offer contactless delivery service through a variety of online payment options, including GoPay e-wallet and credit and debit card, automated message in the in-app chat box to notify drivers of your preferred drop-off area, and other efforts to allow social distancing for both users and Gojek driver partners.
  • Optimizing the online onboarding process for merchants & drivers - Gojek constantly strives to improve the onboarding process, simplify the registration process and pave the way for merchants to increase sales and for drivers to earn additional income during this critical time. Interested merchants can now register online via the Gojek Thailand website and start their businesses within 3-7 operating days. Interested drivers can register via GoPartner without registration fees and get started within 2 business days after having submitted all required documentation.
  • Ongoing support for merchant and driver partners - Through the Gojek Partner Support Fund, created in 2020, Gojek is offering a maximum of 6,000THB to driver and micro merchant partners who are either infected with COVID-19 or are placed under quarantine. The program enables its partners to deliver their services with confidence while also ensuring their livelihood.
