TCRB builds up financial immunity of merchants through

Thai Credit Retail Bank (TCRB), which always stands by merchants in difficult times, is ready to boost their financial immunity through "Tang To Know-how", a financial literacy program designed to improve the quality of life of nano and micro business owners and grow sustainable businesses. This program has been certified by School of Accountancy, the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, and comes in both on-ground and online platforms. The bank expects to welcome 50,000 merchants nationwide to participate by the end of 2022.

Roy Agustinus Gunara, Managing Director of the Thai Credit Retail Bank, explained that the bank is aware of the importance of accelerating the granting of financial immunity to small business owners for stable growth. The latest survey of financial knowledge and skills found that most respondents needed to enhance their knowledge of how to increase income, savings and investment as well as debt and cash flow management. The training course was conceived in line with bank's mission providing financial literacy.

Due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the bank has developed a new and more intensive financial literacy program named "Tang To Know-how". It has been designed in accordance with academic standards and is certified by the School of Accountancy at the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce. All participants who attend this program will also receive certificates.

"We believe that if we have good financial immunity, we will be able to overcome the economic crisis and the current outbreak and drive business for strong and sustainable growth. It will also play a part in strengthening the country's economy as a whole," Gunara said.

The Tang To Know-how program has been recognized by the Bureau of Capital and Community Financial Organization Development, Community Development Department under the Ministry of Interior, allowing the bank to transfer financial knowledge to the Saving for Production Groups nationwide.

"Tang To Know-how" has been developed from the "Smart micro customers: hardworking, savings with discipline" program, which had been organized for the past four consecutive years with the aim of reducing the household debt burden and maintaining the level of non-performing loans. Thanks to the past four years of training, 98% of more than 30,000 participants have been able to improve financial discipline and build good credit. So far, the bank has organized 1,161 classes in all regions of the country, all provided with free of charge.

Furthermore, TCRB is expanding financial learning into communities with the establishment of the first learning center in the Bang Khen-Watcharaphon area. The bank has opened learning centers at 263 branch offices nationwide, allowing community members to access a source of financial literacy through activities and multimedia tools. The classes are supported by TCRB's staff who received the training as trainer.

"With its philosophy 'Everyone Matters', the bank appreciates the value of merchants and micro business entrepreneurs who take part in driving social and economic development. We are therefore always ready to stand beside them and enhance their capabilities through financial literacy and products that are fair and easy to access for strong and sustainable business growth as well as better quality of life," said Gunara.
