The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) will announce winners who are among 12 CEOs and 76 companies shortlisted for Business Excellence awards and 51 companies nominated in Sustainable Excellence awards. They have shown outstanding entrepreneurship potential and readiness for adaptation in the new normal era with exemplary performance in the capital market. A virtual ceremony will take place to announce award winners on Nov 3.
SET President Pakorn Peetathawatchai said that SET and Money and Banking Magazine will organize an annual event to announce SET Awards 2021. The event, organized continually for the 18th year this year, is aimed at recognizing listed companies, securities companies, asset management companies, financial advisory firms and top executives of listed companies with excellence in various fields. The awards consist of 2 categories: Business Excellence category awards are granted to companies highly capable of business operations, development for organizational innovations and financial transactions in the capital market; and Sustainability Excellence category awards are presented to companies committed to sustainable growth and value creation for stakeholders, the society and the environment.
"Under changing circumstances in the new normal economic and financial landscape, companies must always be prepared and ready to adjust business strategies. SET Awards will inspire other organizations to improve their quality, develop innovations, operate with responsibilities for shareholders and stakeholders, while embracing environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) and showing good performance with balanced growth in line with SET's vision 'To Make the Capital Market Work for Everyone'. The exclusive event, scheduled for November 3, will be a virtual ceremony in compliance with the current situation. In this final round, 76 companies and 12 top executives were shortlisted in the Business Excellence category and 51 companies were selected as nominees in the Sustainability Excellence category," Pakorn said.
Money and Banking Magazine Editor-in-Chief Santi Viriyarungsarit who is the co-founder of SET Awards, and a judge for SET Awards 2021, said that this year SET adjusted the awards
categories to open up opportunities for small and medium-sized companies with potential. There are two additional categories of nominees classified by their market capitalization in Market for Alternative Investment (mai), and sub-categories in the Best Innovative Company Awards and the Deal of the Year Awards. These additional awards categories received an enthusiastic response from listed companies and organizations related to the capital market with record number of entries in several categories, reflecting continuously increasing interest in SET Awards.
The committee of experts judging SET Awards 2021 are Chaiwat Wibulswasdi, Maruay Phadungsit, Seri Chintanaseri, Santi Viriyarungsarit, Yuth Vorachattarn, Pattareeya Benjapolchai, Teeranun Srihong, Pakorn Peetathawatchai, Manpong Senanarong and Krisada Sektrakul, and Amnouy Jiramahapoka is the secretary to the committee.
This year, The Business Excellence category comprises 7 awards: 1) Best CEO Awards and Young Rising Star CEO Award, 2) Best Company Performance Awards, 3) Deal of the Year Awards, 4) Best Investor Relations Awards, 5) Best Innovative Company Awards, 6) Best Securities Company Awards and 7) Best Asset Management Company Award. The Sustainability Excellence category consists of 3 awards namely 1) Best Sustainability Awards, 2) Highly Commended in Sustainability Awards and 3) Rising Star Sustainability Awards. There are also SET Awards of Honor for the companies or individuals who have shown their excellence for 3 consecutive years or more.
