Mitr Phol Group Leads the Way Towards Sustainable Development,  Placing 3rd Globally in the Food Category

Mitr Phol Group moves forwards to the 3rd in global sustainability rankings of the food category according to the Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) conducted by S&P Global, moving up one spot from the 4th in 2020. This reflects the organization's commitment over the past 65 years to conduct business ecologically from upstream to downstream to ensure a sustainable future for society and elevate to a world-class corporation. This is the 4th year running in which Mitr Phol has participated in the internationally-recognized evaluation, whereby Mitr Phol received excellent grades in the main themes of Governance-Economic, Social Dimension, and Environmental Dimension criteria. Perfect scores of 100 were achieved in areas such as Innovation Management, Water Related Risks, Human Rights, and Social Impacts on Communities, among others.

Mr. Buntoeng Vongkusolkit, Chairman of Mitr Phol Group, disclosed the evaluation results on the organization's sustainability, saying "Nowadays, it is important to place emphasis on sustainable development for the society, the environment, and all sectors related to business, especially amidst the changing trends including climate change and the Covid-19 pandemic which forces everyone to make adjustments. Therefore, creating organizational sustainability should not only aim to increase business competitiveness, but also focus on supporting stakeholders such as cane farmers, commercial partners, communities, societies, and employees, to create sustainability throughout the business value chain in accordance with the Group's philosophy of "Grow Together". Mitr Phol Group's accomplishment this year reflects the organization's commitment to elevate towards a world-class sustainable corporation. Although Mitr Phol Group is not listed in the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), we are determined to develop our sustainability standards in a transparent manner using the same criteria as leading companies listed in the SET, thus participating in the assessment by S&P Global."

Mitr Phol Group's work on sustainable development is divided into three dimensions covering the economy, society, and environment in accordance with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Emphasis is placed on creating upstream and downstream growth for all sectors throughout the value chain, starting from increasing agricultural productivity by becoming Smart Farmers who can make use of modern environmentally-friendly farming technology to make analyses and adjustments to harvest high-quality yield, enhancing worker's capabilities, improving industrial management to meet international standards, reducing energy usage and its lessening environmental impact, as well as implementing sustainable development projects for surrounding communities.

The establishment of the "Mitr Phol-Banpu Solidarity to Aid Thailand on COVID-19 Confrontation Endowment" supports Thai society in the areas of public health and the economy, patients, those in quarantine, vulnerable groups, the homeless, children and youth. Efforts were also made to apply know-how, research, and innovation to increase sugar cane productivity and value in various businesses under bio-based industries, as well as to genuinely promote human rights using the Human Rights Due Diligence process.
