The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) together with Money & Banking magazine announced 694 listed companies qualified for SET Awards 2022 in the preliminary round before selection, winner announcement and award presentation ceremony will be taken place in November 2022. SET Awards this year will feature a series of new awards namely Best REIT Performance Award, ESG-related awards under the Best Asset Management Awards' type, and new group of awards for the Sustainability Excellence category.
SET President Pakorn Peetathawatchai said that SET Awards ceremony has been organized for 19 consecutive years to honor prominent listed companies that are capital market's role models with excellence in both business operation and quality; support the Thai capital market potential development; drive sustainable growth and provide benefits for all sectors. This is in line with SET's vision 'To Make the Capital Market Work for Everyone'.
"Notably, more prestigious awards will be added this year to the Business Excellence category namely Best REIT Performance Award to promote the development of real estate investment trusts (REITs) which is an important tool for fundraising of Thai businesses, and ESG-related aspects will be encompassed Best Asset Management Awards' type for asset management companies that prioritize responsible investment by taking into consideration the environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices. At the same time, the 'good' level of the Commended Sustainability Awards will be added to the Sustainability Excellence category, on top of the Best Sustainability Awards and the Highly Commended Sustainability Awards due to the fact that increasingly more listed companies conduct sustainability assessment every year and they are determined to upgrade their implementation of sustainability development," added Pakorn.
Money & Banking magazine Editor-In-chief Santi Viriyarungsarit, as a co-founder, co-organizer and honorable judge, said that SET Awards presentation has been well-recognized and well-received continuously. Realized the importance of sustainability development which is prioritized globally, the working committee comprising top-notch professionals in 2022 adjusts the award criteria by taking ESG issues into consideration. For example, ESG scores will be used as part of the selection of the Best Investor Relations Awards, while adding ESG-related awards for asset management companies.
SET Awards can be grouped into 2 categories: 1) Business Excellence category to be presented to listed companies, securities companies, asset management companies, financial advisory companies and REITs; and 2) Sustainability Excellence category to be presented to listed companies that are outstanding in operating business in accordance with sustainability development principles. Both awards categories' assessment results will be processed by Sasin School of Management of Chulalongkorn University.
Moreover, listed companies or individuals who have retained their excellence recognized by being granted the best award type under the Business Excellence or the Sustainability Excellence categories for three consecutive years or more will also be presented the SET Awards of Honor which marks the crest of success.
