PwC Thailand hosts 'Save the hornbills' event to help preserve nature

On 7-8 May 2022, Paiboon Tunkoon (8th from the left in the back row), Assurance Partner and Net Zero, Corporate Responsibility and Diversity and Inclusion Leader for PwC Thailand, led a team of 40 volunteers and interns on the 'Save the hornbills: The guardians of the forest' field trip, at Khao Yai National Park, situated in Nakhon Ratchasima province.

The 'Save the hornbills: The guardians of the forest' trip was designed to help the volunteers understand the importance of hornbill conservation as the health of the hornbill population serves as a health indicator of the forest.

The participants participated in a diverse range of activities, which included hiking jungle trails to observe the hornbill's lifecycle and building salt lick sites for wildlife at the national park. At the end of the event, the participants donated COVID-19 protective equipment to the Baan Moonsi school in Pak Chong district.

This initiative is part of PwC Thailand's corporate social responsibility programme which includes a commitment to reach net zero carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from its operations and supply chains by 2030. This activity also supports the leadership and staff in their efforts to take responsibility for the environment, society and communities in Thailand.
