GED rushes to support SAOs in the North and Northeast to cope with rising PM 2.5 dust in winter

As the Meteorological Department has predicted that winter this year will be colder than last year, local authorities in many northern and northeastern provinces have begun to prepare for the care of vulnerable groups, especially the elderly, in order to be safe from the cold weather and the PM 2.5 toxic dust that will rise during this period. Great Eastern Drug Company Limited (GED), a specialist in respiratory diseases, has rushed to the areas in Nakhon Ratchasima and Chiang Mai provinces to provide support by donating medicines and necessary equipment. The company also provided advice on health care.

Mr. Thanadon Kukkhunthod, Chief Executive of Ban Kao Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Dan Khun Thot District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, said, "At present, there are approximately 1,600 elderly and bedridden patients, representing 22% of the population in the Ban Kao sub-district. When these people inhale a lot of PM 2.5 toxic dust, they tend to have various illnesses such as respiratory allergies and heart disease. We regularly conduct health care education campaigns. Our staff also work closely with sub-district health promoting hospitals, medical teams, and nursing staff to take good care of the elderly and patients. They also teach and monitor people to wear masks properly, wash hands and face with clean water, drink clean water and get plenty of rest. Thank you to the team of Great Eastern Drug Co., Ltd. (GED) for providing the N 95 mask, respiratory medicine, and essential items such as blankets, adult diapers, rice, cartons of milk, canned food, vegetable oil. These will help us to take care of the elderly more effectively."

Pharmacist Preechaya Phankham, Product Manager of Great Eastern Drug Co., Ltd., said, "If a large amount of PM 2.5 dust accumulates in the lungs through inhalation, it may make the elderly vulnerable to illnesses, particularly respiratory allergies. The elderly with chronic lung disease should be treated with special care in winter because there is a chance of complications such as emphysema and pneumonia. GED is concerned about this vulnerable group. We believe that prevention is better than cure. Therefore, the support was carried out early on, including sending the company's pharmacist team to educate people on how to keep their health safe from PM 2.5 dust."

These activities are parts of the activities that GED continues to promote good quality of life for Thai people. The general public can learn more about the prevention and treatment of various types of allergies at www.gedgoodlife.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/GEDGoodLife/
