Ms. Sireerat Corvanich (center-right), Head of Credit Card Marketing, "KTC" or Krungthai Card Public Company Limited is the representative of KTC to hand over 24,747,573 baht donation to Ms. Arunee Achakulwisut (center-left), Head of Private Sector Partnership Service, UNHCR. KTC members donate through their credit cards by redeeming KTC FOREVER points (every 1,000 KTC FOREVER points into 100 baht cash donation) to UNHCR in helping refugees at UNHCR, Krung Kasem Road recently.
Ms. Arunee Achakulwisut, Head of Private Sector Partnership Service, UNHCR, said "The office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has been established for 70 years. We have helped refugees who are forced to leave their homes due to wars and conflicts. Currently, there are 82.4 million displaced people worldwide. We work in 135 countries and have been working in Thailand for 47 years."
"The refugee crisis requires collaboration from all sectors. Currently, UNHCR has many high-quality donors who have continuously made donations through KTC credit cards. On average, a person becomes a refugee for 17 years; hence, the long-term contribution is essential for UNHCR to provide enough support to make a difference in their lives. We focus on first helping sensitive groups because 80% of refugees are women and children. Donating through KTC credit cards is simple, yet creates sustainable change. Our upcoming projects involve providing scholarships for refugees as only 3% of worldwide refugees have access to higher education.
