"To sustain the notion of happiness from infinite giving, the Ramathibodi Foundation releases an overview of its efforts in 2022 and a plan for its operations in 2023."

Results of people's "giving" over the previous year

It will be the 54th anniversary of Ramathibodi Foundation in 2023. We make an effort to conduct all of our business as if we were a charitable organization whose goal is to raise funds for the mission of the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital. The progress of numerous short- and long-term projects for which the Ramathibodi Foundation has fundraised demonstrates the results of public donations throughout the years through the provision of medical services and the production of medical personnel as a medical school. The Ramathibodi Foundation is currently working on a number of fundraising projects, include

  • Ramathibodi Hospital Building Project and Yothi Innovation District-YMID
  • Chakri Naruebodindra Medical Institute's medical equipment acquisition project
  • Destitute Patients project
  • Ramathibodi Scholarship Program
  • Community hospitals' Ramathibodi project
  • stem cell transplantation project
  • The following are the two primary projects that Ramathibodi Foundation needs to accelerate fundraising in 2023:

    1. Ramathibodi Hospital Building Project and Yothi Innovation District-YMID

Midway through December 2022, a brand-new project was just introduced. In contrast to how the original facility was used, a new Ramathibodi Hospital building was constructed to replace the older one in order to enable patients to completely exercise their fundamental rights. The project also aims to improve patient convenience and treatment effectiveness, particularly for patients with complex illnesses that call for the competence of Ramathibodi Hospital's medical personnel to serve as a role model for other hospitals in the future. In order to support the nation's public health, reach its full potential on the world stage, including the ability to compete and be prepared to join the ASEAN Economic Community in the future, the project also aims to produce medical professionals with experience treating complicated disorders.

This project comprises of a high-rise structure with 25 storeys and 2 basement floors that is situated on a portion of the territory in front of the Government Pharmaceutical Organization and has a useable area of more than 278,000 square meters. The project's total area is 15 rai 2 ngan 24 square wah. It is almost three times larger than the Somdech Phra Debaratana Medical Center, which has the capacity to treat up to 2.5 million outpatient visits and 55,000 inpatient patients annually. By 2028, this project is anticipated to be finished and operational (for the next 5 years). Despite considerable government support, the project currently lacks finance for building construction (approximately 3,000 million baht) and the procurement of contemporary medical equipment (about 6,000 million baht).

    2. Destitute Patients project

This project, which is regarded as an old one, was started at the same time as the Ramathibodi Foundation to aid patients who were admitted to the hospital but couldn't afford their medication. Poor patients of all stripes, including those in welfare institutions, psychiatric patients, monks, nuns, homeless people, victims of natural disasters, immigrants, even those with middle-class insurance or those covered by universal health coverage, take part in the project. This initiative was inspired by the fact that impoverished patients often have their rights restricted. For example, some diseases are not covered, and some medications or medical devices are not included on the National List of Essential Medicines- NLEM, necessitating additional patient payment. The project also offers complete help for family issues, psychological issues, and other costs associated with therapy so that patients can receive medical care and live better. The number of patients necessitating very expensive treatments and prolonged durations of treatment with financial support is rapidly growing as a result of Ramathibodi's success and the hope it offers people with difficult ailments. The Foundation spends an average of more than 100 million baht annually to assist low-income patients, of whom 40% are non-income patients and the remaining 60% are low-income patients. More than 57% of the patients who needed assistance were children and elders.

As of 2022, 19% of all Foundation-supported projects were funded by donations intended to assist destitute patients. In comparison to 2021, a 4% rise in new, low-income patients received assistance from the foundation.

    1."Happiness from Giving...Never Ends" Campaign

This campaign aims to highlight how "giving" from "donors" who spread happiness to recipients or "patients" can result in a variety of happiness by gathering voices to express the gratitude of the patients under the project for underprivileged patients who receive medical expenses from the kindness of Thai people. For instance, the joy of donors who witness patients recover and be able to reunite with their families, the joy of donors who provide finances to students through the "Ramathibodi Scholarship Program," which aims to train medical professionals to improve the quality of life of people in Thai society, or even the joy of being a donor for the construction of Ramathibodi Hospital building and the Yothi Innovation District that will take place in the near future including many other projects that the foundation provides contribution.

New generational trends in charitable endeavors

Because of the kindness and cultured spirit of cooperation exhibited by the Thai people. The Thai people will lend a hand to one another in whatever way they can whenever there is an urgent need, such as an emerging disease, a natural disaster, or even the construction of a new hospital. Thai people are also willing to offer their time and energy in addition to financial contributions. Through social media platforms, some people assist in spreading the message by liking and sharing the news. Giving out of kindness is something that is valuable to us at the Ramathibodi Foundation and can benefit a large number of people.

Credibility and verifiability are discipline people in today's society place great importance on, which is consistent with the principles of management of the Ramathibodi Foundation. We have a specific target for every project and follow our operating rules to achieve the executives' goals. Each project's progress and final results must ultimately achieve its planned goals.

Online Donation The COVID-19 pandemic has caused online philanthropy, like other facets of society, to gain prominence. The Ramathibodi Foundation has continuously enhanced its services through the use of cutting-edge technology while guaranteeing the security of financial transactions in an effort to make giving as easy as possible for donors. This has included developing online support systems for charitable souvenir as well. Additionally, the Ramathibodi Foundation has an online donation channel that has been operational for more than 10 years; as of the most recent year, 63% of donations were made online, compared to 37% of donations made offline. In this way, online donations typically increase following the COVID-19 virus outbreak.

Donor generation from the previous year and plans for collaboration with other organizations by 2023

    • In comparison to other age groups, Gen X donors who are 45 years of age or older make up more than 40% of the Ramathibodi Foundation's natural person donors. Donors who are 45 to 60 years of age and above make up a similar percentage of donors, and they are the donors who make the most donations on average.
    • Since the COVID-19 crisis, the Foundation has raised twice as much money for essential projects from Gen Z (9-24 years old) than it did before to the COVID-19 crisis. In a short period of time, it may clearly and visibly witness the benefits of its giving. The number of donations made by this set of donors fell significantly in 2022, but they were still higher than they had been prior to the COVID-19 issue.
    • When it comes to connecting with the younger generation, the Ramathibodi Foundation has used their preferences to advance its work, such as producing souvenirs featuring well-known cartoon characters like LINE Friends, Hello Kitty, Snoopy, etc. Leading Thai fashion brands such as PAINKILLER Atelier, Kloset & Etcetera, DISAYA, Greyhound Original, and SMILEYHOUND were additionally invited to serve as the ambassadors at the launch of the Power of Giving charity souvenirs at the end of the previous year as an illustration of how a new generation of influencers is being used to promote various campaigns. Furthermore, the Ramathibodi Foundation's Facebook fan page offers content to draw in the attention of the younger generation, such as wallpapers to enhance happiness...endless 12 zodiac signs with lucky numbers from teacher White Fortune Teller Oppa to produce a variety of content that the foundation tries to communicate.
    • Regarding plans for collaboration with other organizations, the foundation continues to work with authentic licensed brands Peter Rabbit and My Melody this year. This collaboration is part of the foundation's unique strategy to increase variety through everyday necessities so that everyone can access more philanthropy.
