H.E. Hundreds of thousands of survivors have been left homeless and are living in temporary shelters while rehabilitation efforts are underway.

The Kingdom of Thailand and the Republic of Turkey have a long history, unique arts and cultures and are both centrally located in their own regions. They have built cordial relations through trading since the era of King Narai the Great of Ayutthaya Kingdom and established diplomatic relations on May 12, 1958. When the south of Thailand was hit by the tsunami in 2004, Turkey's prime minister at that time Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan paid an official visit to Thailand. He also visited tsunami-hit areas in Phang-Nga and Phuket on February 8, 2005.
