Anantara Layan's Roman Adventure Experience a Warm and Friendly Trattoria at the Beach House

Appia, Bangkok's best-loved trattoria is bringing its classic Roman cuisine to Anantara Layan's Beach House from 1 June until 31 July 2023. Diners can expect big flavours and real home-style cooking.  From piquant carbonara, oxtail stew to puntarelle salad and lamb ribs,  there's nothing quite like traditional Roman food and chef Paolo Vitaletti's dishes are the kind of food Rome is most famous for. 

The dazzling Beach House at Anantara Layan Phuket Resort offers the perfect setting for this pop-up providing a gourmet tribute to fresh coastal living where diners can unwind in style and soak up the sparkling ocean views.

Chef and owner, Paolo Vitaletti, grew up as a butcher's son, eating hearty homemade pastas, stews, and roasted meats brought home by his father and prepared by his mother. Every great Appia recipe, has its roots in the past.

Naming the restaurant "Appia" is a nod to the Appian Way - an ancient cobblestone road that connects Rome to Apulia- a symbolic culinary journey through the countryside of southern Italy. Feast on fresh, house-made pastas, salads, and rotisserie meats like Porchetta - moist boneless pork roast stuffed with fennel pollen and served with an apple compote.

One dish diners should try is the carbonara. Rome is the home of carbonara and Appia serves one of the best you will try in your life. What makes Appia's carbonara such a standout dish, is the crispy guanciale. The consistency and salty taste is completely different from using bacon in the dish.

Diners will be able to savour freshly baked breads with tasty accompaniments of cold cuts, creamy cheeses and marinated red peppers. Artisanal salads like the Puntarella made with chicory greens grown in Lazio, cured and pickled anchovies and fresh pasta dishes such as Cacio e Pepe and Norcia truffle pasta, will satisfy cravings for true Roman food.

On the dessert menu, give the Tiramisu at try as it has been specially created by Chef Paolo's mother and don't miss out on the excellent passion fruit pannacotta.
