Krungsri (Bank of Ayudhya PCL)'s the JPC/MNC Banking Group, led by a new leader, Mr. Bunsei Okubo, recently announced the business strategy for the year 2023. The JPC/MNC Banking aims to enhance ASEAN connectivity, launching 'Krungsri ASEAN LINK', a new business advisory service that facilitates expansion into ASEAN markets, to link every requirement for doing business in Southeast Asia through strong synergy with the network of MUFG. It will also move forward to build upon the ESG business and foster the growth of startup business on an international scale. These efforts aim to reinforce the Bank's position as the first call business partner by Japanese corporate customers.
Mr. Bunsei Okubo, Krungsri Head of Japanese Corporate and Multinational Corporate Banking (JPC/MNC Banking), said "Krungsri has continuously retained the leadership position in the Japanese corporate market, thanks to the robust network of MUFG, both in Japan and worldwide. The world-class knowledge and expertise have been transferred to Krungsri, enabling the Bank to enhance our capabilities and gain trust from Japanese and multinational corporate customers. Over the past year, we have served Japanese and multinational corporate customers from a diverse range of industries to successfully expand their business into ASEAN. Examples include supporting the establishment of a lens production facility in Lao PDR, providing advisory service on market insights and relevant legal requirements for a building material company's office establishment in Vietnam, assisting in the survey and making recommendations on the site of a food processing factory in Vietnam, and providing advisory services on setting up the headquarters of a Japanese automotive company in Thailand."
"In 2023, we therefore place a priority on fostering ASEAN connectivity which is one of our key missions. We have upgraded the advisory service for linking businesses across ASEAN by launching 'Krungsri ASEAN LINK', a new service that is ready to address all the business requirements and help our customers to grow in nine countries throughout ASEAN and to build on their business in more than 50 countries across the world through the strong network of MUFG."
'Krungsri ASEAN LINK' serves as a center of advisory services for doing business in ASEAN through the strong network of Krungsri and MUFG. Leveraging our in-depth knowledge and understanding in a wide range of different and diverse industries, the Krungsri ASEAN LINK offers tailor-made financial solutions to all groups of business customers ranging from business consultation, conducting comprehensive analysis, providing marketing insights including future economic trends to support business mergers and overseas investment expansions, development and establishment of regional offices, providing legal and tax advisory services, and business matching, etc.
In addition, Krungsri also consistently moves ahead with the strategy of building upon ESG finance business and taking part in driving ASEAN startups towards international level through collaboration with various strategic partners as follows:
- Supporting businesses that integrate ESG framework into their operations by means of knowledge transfer through business alliance and at the same time extending the collaboration with the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and Zeroboard Inc., a Japanese startup company with leading technology on cloud service relating to GHG emission calculation and visualization that can cover business and supply chain areas, to concretely promote the green transition of business.
- Creating network and fostering growth of startups through collaboration with alliances, namely, the Digital Economic Promotion Agency (depa) and Techo Startup Center, a government-funded organization established to promote the growth of Cambodian startups, to create the opportunities both at the national and regional levels. This year, Krungsri, in collaboration of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan, depa and Techo, organized Japan-ASEAN Start-up Business Matching Fair 2023, which is ASEAN's the biggest business matching event for startups supported by the Japanese government. The event, attended by more than 60 startups from 9 countries and various industries as well as more than 160 companies of potential investors from 6 countries, marked a significant collaborative initiative of the MUFG network in creating growth opportunities for startups.
"We are confident that the expertise of Krungsri and the strong network of MUFG will combine to enhance the opportunities and propel the business growth of Japanese and multinational corporates as well as fostering the growth of the Thai economy simultaneously." Mr. Okubo concluded.
