Introducing the EPI-SYSTEM
Modular Design / Component Ecosystem
The EPI-SYSTEM represents a wide range of systematic design thinking that has one thing above all in common: the unmistakable commitment to versatility and functional aesthetics. The epi-system features design details befitting eyepieces of this caliber. Every DITA-EPILUXURY eyepiece comes with two sets of removable temples, whereas EPLX.5 and EPLX.9 permits wearer to change both the temples, and lenses themselves.
Even more practical is the temple quickchange system for the DITA-EPILUXURY eyepieces. With this, changing from a straight to a cable temple tip is fast and effortless. The connecting links of the various types of temples are mutually compatible, which means that multiple temples in different materials can be attached to the same eyepiece.

Quick change system
The EPISYSTEM frames exhibit a fully integrated design and engineering approach. The temple quick-change system enables the user to change temples easily. This system is built as a tool free release that utilizes a press-button release functionality. The DITA-EPILUXURY temple is one of the most difficult design concepts that DITA has ever attempted. DITA-EPILUXURY offers 3 different temples, with every eyepiece including 2 of the 3 temple designs.
Lens frames must also meet high requirements as a link in the quality chain. Beyond style, the main purpose of the frames is to hold optics in place, firmly yet without play. Attention is given to ensure the tolerances of the lenses and frames match precisely, minimizing the amount of mechanical tension between the two materials. Strict quality controls maximize adherence to the target values.
The frames must also be able to withstand normal day-to-day use. The thickness, weight of material, and finishes are all taken into consideration. As a rule, only the high-quality materials are used, such as pure titanium and some of the finest acetates as well as precious materials such as exotic wood and horn.
Our titanium frames use a screw mount design to accommodate for thinner frame shapes. The titanium structure of the frames has thin extruded sections that are bent into desired shapes. The frame structure surrounding the lens openings forms an open loop into which the lens is inserted. After the lens is inserted, the loop is closed by attaching a screw to the two open ends.

Artisan craftsmanship: preserving the precious
In the tireless quest to master the design of fine optics and eyewear, it's the smallest detail that matters most. Nowhere is our unflinching attention to detail more evident than in our frames. Each eye rim wire is expertly shaped and carefully measured to high tolerances before progressing to the next stage of the production process.
As the production process nears completion, finished eye rim wires are soldered to the bridge and the entire assembly is then filed before being polished on a polishing wheel.
After all components receive a thorough quality review, they are assembled and polished using a specialized polishing wheel resulting in exceptional smoothness and incredible level of fit and finish.

Combining natural and manmade materials
The apparent simplicity of these materials conceals a vast amount of experimentation, work and creativity; in which blends of natural and synthetic play a key role. Strength and light are obtained by combining disparate elements seeking to unite horn-titanium or wood-titanium in a single eyewear frame. Synthetics are now transformed by the addition of exquisite materials and specialized varnishing treatments.

The quality of high-grade lenses has always been determined by various criteria. Many connoisseurs of highly technical eyepieces are aware that the diffraction and transmission properties of glass and the coating are key factors for clarity of image.
DITA-EPILUXURY uses only high grade optical glass materials. There is a continuous process of optimization and quality control which begins with the raw materials. To create optical glass from these raw materials requires specific technologies, long term experience and most importantly creativity.
