The Shell Company of Thailand Limited, led by Mr. Kamolpat Baholyodhin, Executive Director - Lubricants Business, was honored with a prestigious award from SCGP, which acknowledges the company's unwavering commitment to sustainable practices, in alignment with sustainable economy project guidelines. Specifically, Shell Thailand was recognised for its use of 100% recycled plastic packaging for premium engine oils in the "Shell Helix Ultra" product line. The award was presented by Mr. Karan Tejasen, Chief Operation Officer, Consumer & Performance Packaging at SCG Packaging Public Company Limited (SCGP), during the SCG ESG Symposium, held at the multi-purpose building at Siam Cement Public Company Limited's head office in Bangkok.
Mr. Kamolpat said, "Shell is honoured and delighted to receive this recognition from SCGP, which reinforces the confidence of our partners and related agencies who recognize Shell's commitment in operating a sustainable business. It is encouraging that we can successfully switch to 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) resin bottles for our premium engine oil, which is environmentally friendly. Shell's priorities include caring for the environment, while also continuously innovating to continuously deliver high quality energy and services at international standards to consumers. This award demonstrates an additional accomplishment that both recognizes and reinforces Shell's sustainable business operations."
In July 2023, Shell introduced "Shell Helix Ultra" engine oil, packaged in 100% environmentally friendly post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic. This move caters to consumers seeking products that not only enhance engine performance, but also prioritise eco-friendly alternatives. As Thailand's first lubricant packaging solution made from 100% recycled plastic pellets of the highest quality, the PCR bottles are designed for durability in all transportation conditions, while preserving the full potential of Shell's world-class lubricants.
By making use of these bottles, Shell is actively contributing to reducing plastic waste, lowering carbon dioxide emissions, and further supporting the transition to a circular economy for packaging.
This award, presented by SCGP, serves as an incentive for Shell to further embrace sustainable business practices. This endeavour seamlessly aligns with its Powering Progress strategy, which drives business growth, while prioritizing customers' needs and engaging with society and stakeholders across various sectors. Furthermore, Shell's commitment to reducing environmental impacts is evident through its three-pillar approach: Avoid, Reduce, and Compensate, which is applied across its entire portfolio of products and services. This concerted effort also contributes to Shell's energy transition toward achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
