The Estee Lauder Companies in collaboration with the National Cancer Institute and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) organized a proactive project

The Estee Lauder Companies in collaboration with the National Cancer Institute and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) organized a proactive project under Breast Cancer Campaign providing cancer screening for more than 1,500 working-age women in Thailand between 30 - 31 October and during the month of November 2023.

The Estee Lauder Companies furthers its mission to eradicate breast cancer from the world through its Breast Cancer Campaign conducted under a collaboration with the National Cancer Institute and BMA. The campaign introduces a proactive female cancer screening project for Thai women of working age. It will deliver basic knowledge about breast cancer and how to do a self-screening as well as conducting breast cancer screening for women aged 40 years and over which the project aims to do so for more than 1,500 working-age women. Set to take place from 30 - 31 October and during the month of November 2023, the project also hopes to conduct breast cancer screening for up to 240 people with high-risk conditions using mammograms as well as providing more opportunities for women aged over 30 to have cervical cancer screening.

Tipaporn Unakul, General Manager Thailand at The Estee Lauder Companies, revealed that "The Estee Lauder Companies has been conducted the Breast Cancer Campaign for more than 30 years. And this year marks a 20th anniversary of the campaign in Thailand. Our aim is to raise awareness of breast cancer and make women all over the world aware of the dangers of the disease. In Thailand, we want to provide opportunities for Thai working-age women to be screened. That is why we have joined hands with the National Cancer Institute to promote breast cancer screening services for underprivileged people in various areas allowing them to be examined without charge. This is to proactively warn women across the country about the dangers of breast cancer."

"Today, we have collaborated with the National Cancer Institute and BMA to organize a proactive project on female cancer screening for women of working age in Thailand. Our aim is to provide knowledge through a lecture on the topic of "Knowledge about breast cancer and how to screen" while also giving women the opportunity to have breast and cervical cancer screening with mammograms for female factory workers, all conducted by medical staff. The screening will be held during the end of October to November and will accommodate up to 40 women of high-risk cases per day for 6 days, totaling 240 people which are divided into two target groups: 1) high-risk women aged 30 years and over will have HPV self-sampling or having cervical cancer screening with medical staff on cancer screening vehicle. 2) women aged 40 years and over that are at risk (and women aged 35 years and over who have immediate relatives on the mother's side with HPV) will have breast cancer screening. Those with negative result from clinical breast exam (CBE) will make appointment with staff to do mammogram and ultrasound later."

Acting Police Lieutenant Dr. Napa Siriwattanakul, Director of the National Cancer Institute, said, "In 2022, the National Cancer Institute found that more than 20,000 Thai women were diagnosed with breast cancer. And what is equally worrisome is that more than 5,422 women were diagnosed with cervical cancer caused by a virus called Human Papillomavirus or HPV that is often sexually transmitted. If these two types of cancer are spreading, it will increase the risk of premature death. Cancer screening to detect cancer at an early stage will help women to receive timely treatment. Therefore, encouraging people to have access to cancer screening is highly important."

"The National Cancer Institute would like to thank The Estee Lauder Companies and BMA for joining hands together to do this campaign and proactively help women of working age in Thailand to have their cancer screening. I would like to thank The Estee Lauder Companies especially for supporting all expenses and publicizing the project to be widely known. This allows the National Cancer Institute to provide knowledge and opportunities for cancer screening to women at risk as they have limited access this service. This is not to mention about the company's participation in a seminar on the topic "the direction of promoting good health of working women through proactive women's cancer screening services in Bangkok area". This activity is a starting point for promoting good health and reducing the risk of death from cancer for Thai women."

Everyone can be a part of driving forward the mission to eradicate breast cancer from the world with The Estee Lauder Companies' Breast Cancer Campaign by purchasing pink products. Proceeds will be given to the National Cancer Institute to promote the quality of life of impoverished breast cancer patients and vulnerable women in Thailand.
