Associate Professor Dr. Supakorn Phongbangpho, President of the University of Phayao, received the award for Outstanding Spatial Higher Education Institutional Work in Areas for the year 2023. The award was presented by Ms. Supamas Isarabhakdi, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation. The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation organized the Future Thailand event to showcase the future of the higher education system in Thailand and the path towards it. The event was held at Samyan Mitrtown Hall in Bangkok.
The University of Phayao is part of the third group of universities with the vision of "University to Create Wisdom for Sustainable Community Development with Innovations of International Standards". This vision is achieved through reforming the management system to produce high-quality and standard manpower, organizing learning that focuses on the integrated development of students of all ages, conducting research and innovations that meet social needs and can be practically applied, and strengthening the community to gain recognition at the national level. The university also aims to excel in research and innovation at the international level, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for global recognition. The university's goal is to become an internationally recognized institution for community and local development, known as a Frontier Area-Based University.
At the event, Assistant Professor Dr. Khomkrich Tachom, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs at the School of Liberal Arts, University of Phayao, was recognized with a commendation award for his work on the Community Imagination Story Project. This project aims to develop teachers into learners in literacy and creativity through the Upper Northern Higher Education Development Network. Additionally, Professor Dr. Samer Thanoi, Vice President for Research and Innovation, and Associate Professor Dr. Paninthara Theeranon, Assistant to the President, were honored with the Outstanding Researcher Award from the Phayao Learning City Work of the Area Development Fund Administration and Management Unit. These awards were received as part of the project's efforts to improve the quality of education and local development, with higher education institutions serving as mentors for the fiscal year 2023.
In addition to the award presentation, there was also an announcement of the results of "The First 3 Months of Work and Driving the Future of the Country" by Ms. Supamas Isarabhakdi, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation. The event also featured lectures on various interesting topics such as "Future Jobs," "Future Education," and "Future Innovation" from researchers, students, and executives of Public Company Limited (PTT). Additionally, there was an exhibition showcasing the research results of outstanding national researchers' projects aimed at improving the quality of education and local development, with higher education institutions serving as mentors for the fiscal year 2023. The event also recognized recipients of the Outstanding Researcher Award and the Local Development Fund Management and Management Unit.
This event, Future Thailand, was attended by executives from the Office of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, university administrators, researchers, and over 500 individuals interested in participating. The country's funding unit for science, research, and innovation, including organizations such as the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), the Program Management Unit on Area-Based Development (PMU A), and the National Innovation Agency (NIA), also participated in showcasing their research and innovation.
