One Bangkok Unveils the Inspiring Urban Canvas at Bangkok Design Week 2024

One Bangkok, a smart and sustainable HEART-Centric metropolis for all in the heart of Bangkok, proudly supports Bangkok Design Week 2024. In collaboration with renowned artists and designers, One Bangkok introduces the "One Bangkok Pavilion" to reinforce its commitment to infuse daily life with art and culture, while elevating the quality of life through various art forms and artistic expressions under the theme of the "Inspiring Urban Canvas".

Charintip Choomuenwai, Vice President and Head of Art & Culture and Deputy Head of Strategic Branding & Corporate Communication at One Bangkok, stated, "For the third consecutive year, One Bangkok is honoured to support Bangkok Design Week. We believe that art and culture play a pivotal role in enhancing people's quality of life, contributing to city improvement, and fostering inspiration while driving the creative economy for all. As a pioneer of Thailand's arts, culture, and creativity industry, our participation this year underscores our commitment and vision, making a significant impact within the art and design community and the public. The creation of the One Bangkok Pavilion aligns seamlessly with the festival's theme 'Livable Scape: The More People Act, the Better the City,' embodying collaboration as the key mechanism for unlocking urban potential. Reflecting the concept of city development, this pavilion has been metamorphosed into a model canvas of a vibrant and livable urban space. We have collaborated with several creators and artists to promote the idea of collaboration and art for everyone under the theme of the Inspiring Urban Canvas."

Under inspirations and concepts taking shape at One Bangkok Pavilion, the fusion of art, culture, and music intertwines seamlessly with the very fabric of people's way of life to Open Up Art to Life. One Bangkok invites everyone to experience art through its collaboration with Supermachine Studio, a globally acclaimed design studio, to craft the accessible and vibrant "One Bangkok Pavilion." Partnering with Kids Bloom and Yimsamer, multimedia agencies specialising in immersive experiences, the pavilion provides a platform for various activities, fostering creativity through interactive screens inspired by the game 'Tang Te'.

Pitupong Chaowakul, Founder/Designer Director of Supermachine Studio, explained the design: "The 'Inspiring Urban Canvas' concept comes to life in the pavilion's castle-like structure, constructed from wooden blocks. It symbolises diverse geometric shapes, akin to building a city that thrives on collective participation, dreams, and inspiration. The pavilion is designed to be accessible, engaging, and devoid of complexity. It transcends the role of mere architecture to become a canvas for individual interpretation, ensuring a memorable experience for all."

The pavilion serves as the epicentre of various activities aimed at promoting urban development, seamlessly blending art, culture, and music with renowned artists. Two iconic street artists, BIGDEL and MRKREME from Bridge Art Agency, participate in Live Paint activities, bringing vibrant patterns to life on the pavilion's wooden blocks. Live music accompanies artwork, narrating the story of the capital city and the ideal city through the painting "Tomato Twins" by S I R I as it resonates with the melodies of the artist and global composer Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pathorn Srikaranonda. Additionally, Urban Swing Dancing by Jelly Roll Dance Club and The Stumbling Swing Out infuse a lively atmosphere into the surroundings.

Bangkok Community Radio DJs, coupled with percussion performances by Tiger Drum Thailand, enrich the evening ambience. Other activities include a "History on Screen" art workshop, featuring a silk screen printing class with patterns inspired by the area around Wireless Road and Rama 4 by TNT SCREEN x Tosmile28. This session is complemented by special soda flavours crafted from scratch by Aircraft Cola, introducing a unique touch to the workshop. Moreover, there are performing arts sessions for kids and an interactive movement performance by BICT Fest and BIPAM, in addition to various activities that contribute to a vibrant and colourful experience throughout the event.
