River City Bangkok proudly presents "Blood Sweat Tears and Ink: Back to the Comics", an exhibition that showcases the incredible journeys of four talented comic artists: Tripuck Supawattana (PUCK), Aphisit Muennak, Suttichart Sarapaiwanich, and Songwit Seakitikul. These artists have poured their sweat, tears and even their very lifeblood into every drop of ink on the pages throughout their artistic journeys. Despite the challenges and sacrifices, they have remained steadfast and continued to create and innovate in the industry to this day.
Jirachayanan Pladruen, a curator of remarkable talent, has been captivated by the allure of comics since childhood. Drawn to gripping plots, relatable characters, and the distinctive styles of various artists, she has carried these cherished impressions from her youth to the present day. In her latest exhibition, she channels this lifelong passion by inviting comic artists who have always lingered in her memories, bringing their timeless works to life once more.
In this exhibition, each artist narrates their life as an artist under the concept "Blood Sweat Tears and Ink". The stories unfold from their beginnings as comic creators, through the friendships formed within the comic artist community, to the evolution of their artistic paths into new forms. This allows past fans to reminisce and reconnect with the familiar inked lines on paper they once adored. Meanwhile, contemporary audiences can appreciate the rare and modern brushwork on canvas, showcasing the artists' growth and timeless beauty of their creations.
Additionally, the exhibition features a wide array of applied arts, offering visitors the opportunity to view and collect works across various mediums, from cards to sculptures. A major highlight is the debut of a compiled comic book featuring works from all four artists, being unveiled for the first time at this event. The exhibition is open from 8 - 30 June 2024 at RCB Artery, 1st floor, River City Bangkok.
