Bangkok Bank joins Yanhee Hospital to continue opening blood donation units throughout the year in celebration of its 80th anniversary as part of its "8 million cc x 2" project to increase blood reserves for Thai Red Cross Society and emphasize its role as a "trusted partner" for society

Bangkok Bank has joined leading partners in Bangkok and regions all across the country to increase blood reserves through the "8 million cc for 80 years of Bangkok Bank" project. Recently, the Bank has joined Yanhee Hospital to continue opening blood donation units throughout the year to reach its target of "8 million cc x 2" with the aim of increasing blood reserves to relieve current blood reserve shortages.

Bangkok Bank Executive Vice President, Consumer Banking, Miss Pochanee Kongkalai said that, as a "trusted partner and reliable close friend" in both financial matters and other aspects of life it has been alongside Thai society for a long time. On December 1, 2024, the Bank will celebrate its 80th anniversary and it is inviting Thai people to donate blood and save lives through the "8 million cc for 80 years of Bangkok Bank" project. After starting in 2023, the project quickly achieved its goals thanks to cooperation from all sectors and it has increased the amount of blood reserves for the National Blood Center, Thai Red Cross Society. Its initial target of collecting 8 million cc of blood, which can be used to save 60,000 lives, was achieved in February 2024, and the Bank has since expanded the "8 million cc x 2" project to continue its mission by coordinating with various agencies and partner organizations to be a part of this great giving.

The Bank is pleased to receive support from Yanhee Hospital in providing blood donation units to make it easier for those interested in being a part of this project to join. In addition, this is another service channel for hospital staff and those living in the vicinity of the hospital to be able to easily join this project.

"Bangkok Bank is determined to make this project a success in order to create another public benefit for Thai society and we are delighted to receive a great response from various partner agencies and organizations. For example, Yanhee Hospital, which is already capable and ready to be a blood donation unit, has joined as a significant donation channel. We also invite other organizations to allocate some space to allow mobile blood donation units to operate, as well as invite staff and people in the nearby areas to donate blood. Interested members of the public are welcome to be part of this project by making blood donations at service points and join us in collecting blood for the "8 million cc x 2" activity as part of the "8 million cc for 80 years of Bangkok Bank" project as well," Miss Pochanee said.

Executive Board Member of Yanhee Hospital Dr. Ladawadee Sumritvanitcha said it is great that Bangkok Bank has initiated the "8 million cc for 80 years of Bangkok Bank" project and the hospital is pleased to participate. The hospital set up a service point for blood donations next to Inter Building 3 to help facilitate officials, staff, and the general public in the surrounding area who are interested in donating blood. We found that there were 113 blood donors donating a total of 45,200 cc of blood in one day. The hospital has more than 1,500 staff and plans to continuously open for blood donations every 3 months to increase blood reserves for the Thai Red Cross as well as support the target amount of blood donations set by Bangkok Bank. It is expected that 15-20 percent of staff will be interested in donating.

"The shortage of blood reserves is still a major problem for every healthcare facility in Thailand and Bangkok Bank's ongoing blood donation project is a social activity that will truly benefit people. In addition to patients who receive blood having direct benefits for their treatment, blood donors will also benefit as every time they donate blood, it helps increase the amount of oxygen in their blood; moreover, research shows that donating blood regularly can significantly reduce the risk of heart disease. Therefore, I am delighted that Yanhee Hospital can cooperate with Bangkok Bank on this CSR activity and other activities in the future," said Dr. Ladawadee.

"Currently, 9.2 million cc (9,291,600 cc as of May 27, 2024) from 23,229 donors has been collected as part of the "8 million cc for 80 years of Bangkok Bank" project. These donations were made through collaborative efforts to set up donation centers by the National Blood Center, Thai Red Cross Society, 12 branches of the National Blood Hub, mobile blood donation units, and provincial hospitals that serve as blood service branches or mobile donation points. With the extensive coordination of various organizations such as the 12th Infantry Regiment, we've seen the Chakri Naruebet Camp in Prachinburi Province contribute 27,450 cc from 61 donors, the mobile blood donation unit in Ratchaburi Province contribute 26,000 cc from 65 donors, the mobile blood donation unit in Lopburi Province contribute 102,400 cc from 256 donors, the Chonburi Provincial Administration Organization contribute 45,600 cc from 114 donors, and Robinson Lifestyle Chachoengsao contribute 44,550 cc from 99 donors," said Miss Pochanee.
