- NIVEA in collaboration with Watsons and the Thai Cancer Society, organized a workshop to educate women about cancer awareness. This initiative is part of the "Supporting Moments of Care" project
NIVEA, a world-renowned skincare brand trusted by Thais for over 30 years, partnered with Watsons Thailand, a leading health and beauty store committed to being alongside customers in every moment of care, by organizing the "Get to know and aware of Cancer" workshop. This event was available for customers who registered by purchasing any NIVEA product through any sales channel of Watsons nationwide, as part of the "Supporting Moment of Care" project. This initiative aims to extend the policies of Beiersdorf AG, Germany, NIVEA's parent company, which seeks to support and assist cancer patients and their families across ASEAN countries.
Cancer is a serious and prevalent disease, especially among women. According to the National Cancer Institute, the five most common cancers affecting new patients are breast cancer, cervical cancer, colorectal cancer, lung cancer, and uterine cancer, posing significant risks to women. Therefore, raising awareness and providing guidance on maintaining a good quality of life when facing cancer is crucial. In this workshop, participants received useful information about cancer, self-examination methods, self-care for patients and caregivers, and valuable information on how to reduce the risk of developing cancer.
Arthit Voranavin, Head of Sales for Eucerin and Pharmacy Marketing, Thailand, representing NIVEA, said, "At Beiersdorf, 'Care' goes beyond skincare; it is deeply woven into our corporate culture. Demonstrating care and empathy is not just a duty but a reflection of our humanity, inspiring us to support one another. This project, an extension of Beiersdorf's mission in Germany, aims to support cancer patients and their families across ASEAN countries, helping them navigate difficult times with strength. We are grateful to our esteemed partner, Watsons, for facilitating customer participation and we thank all customers for recognizing the importance of this initiative and joining today's event. I hope this activity benefits and encourages everyone facing this serious illness, empowering them to overcome challenging times."
Ekkamol Phaibulvatanapong, MD Specialty: Medical Oncology, provided valuable insights on cancer, stating, "Cancer is a common and serious disease, and regular screening is essential as early detection significantly increases the chances of a cure. Today, we have various advanced treatments available, including localized treatments such as surgery, radiation, ablation, and TACE, as well as systemic treatments, and targeted therapy. Additionally, advancements in genetic mutation testing aid in planning the most effective treatment strategies. Notably, many cancer patients are in the 20-30 age group. I believe that "time is life", instead of searching for the best place to treat cancer, one should seek a doctor who can provide prompt and effective care, as early detection can lead to successful treatment."
Furthermore, the event featured an activity where participants created handmade tote bags for cancer patients, offering both encouragement and practical use. These bags will be distributed to patients through the Thai Cancer Society.
