Porsche and Charge+ announce the establishment of 17 DC ultra-fast charging sites across Vietnam, scheduled to be ready in phases, from now until the first half of 2027. This initiative complements the existing DC high performance charging network the iconic German sports car brand has created in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, facilitating seamless and efficient Electric Vehicle (EV) journeys, with special benefits for Porsche EV owners.
Following recent announcements made about the new all-electric Macan, and the comprehensively-refined Taycan, Porsche announces the establishment of a new DC ultra-fast charging network across Vietnam in collaboration with Charge+, a leading integrated Electric Vehicle (EV) charging solution provider for Singapore and Southeast Asia.
This initiative will see 17 charging sites added across the entire country over the course of the next three years, while also integrating the two high-performance charging sites already available at Porsche Studio Hanoi and Porsche Centre Saigon into the Charge+ app.
The first nine sites on this new network with charging speeds of up to 180 kW will be ready by the first half of 2025, located in large cities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang, or commonly frequented mid-journey stops such as Ninh Binh, Phan Thiet, and Bao Loc. Existing chargers at both Porsche Vietnam retail locations offer up to 350 kW of high-performance charging.
The remaining eight sites are scheduled to be ready progressively by the first half of 2027 at locations such as Thanh Hoa and Quy Nhon. The partnership also outlines possibilities for further expansion in the future, depending on various factors. When the network is complete, it will mark a significant milestone for Vietnamese EV charging infrastructure, facilitating seamless and efficient journeys for EV drivers throughout the country. Special benefits such as preferential charging rates will be accorded to new Porsche EV owners, with more benefits to be announced in the future.
The launch ceremony for this ground-breaking project took place at Porsche Studio Hanoi, where Dr. Henrik Dreier, Director New Business Fields at Porsche Asia Pacific, Andreas Klingler, General Director Porsche Vietnam, and Goh Chee Kiong, CEO of Charge+ completed a signing ceremony to commemorate the launch of the new ultra-fast charging network.
The introduction of this extensive ultra-fast charging network not only underscores Porsche Vietnam's commitment to innovation and sustainability but also signifies a leap forward in the region's EV infrastructure development.
Dr. Henrik Dreier, Director New Business Fields at Porsche Asia Pacific, expressed his enthusiasm about this new ultra-fast charging network, stating, "We are immensely proud to spearhead the development of charging infrastructure in Southeast Asia, in line with our three-pronged charging strategy including convenient at-home charging solutions, Porsche Destination Charging at lifestyle locations, and seamless ultra-fast charging networks enabling long EV journeys. Our partnership with Charge+ in Vietnam reflects this continuous commitment to delivering exceptional mobility solutions, driving sustainable progress in the region."
"At Porsche Vietnam, our customers are at the centre of our strategy. By establishing this new ultra-fast charging network with our partners, we want to unlock the possibility of fuss-free nationwide EV journeys for our customers, whilst also providing high levels of service and convenient charging solutions. EV owners in Vietnam can look forward to the possibility of inter-city EV journeys, and we look forward to making long-distance EV travel smoother, more seamless and easier than ever before," said Andreas Klingler, General Director Porsche Vietnam.
Goh Chee Kiong, CEO of Charge+, said, "In line with our mission to catalyse electric mobility in Southeast Asia, Charge+ is now implementing a 5,000 km EV charging highway that spans six countries that start with Singapore and end with Hanoi in Vietnam. We are most excited to partner Porsche, a visionary pioneer in EVs, to undertake the 1,700 km Vietnam leg which represents a quantum leap in enhancing the EV charging experience in Vietnam. We are confident that this new charging backbone will boost confidence in long-distance driving and accelerate the EV transition in Vietnam."
