SCB launches 'Trading bonds in the secondary market' via an EASY-D Debenture account Curated investment-grade bonds will help digital era individual investors grow wealth conveniently and securely
Utilizing upbeat bond trading trends in the secondary market thanks to high liquidity and increased opportunities for investors to receive higher returns according to their goals, Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) introduces a new service: Trading bonds in the secondary market via an EASY-D Debenture account. Well-curated Investment grade bonds are on offer for individual investors on the SCB EASY app, allowing investors with an EASY-D Debenture account to trade bonds 24/7. The new service responds to the needs of digital age investors who are looking for convenience, speed, and security. SCB is ready to deliver a seamless customer experience across channels in line with the Bank's strategy of becoming the "Digital Bank with a Human Touch" and the number one digital bank in wealth management.
SCB Executive Vice President, Head of Financial Markets Function Mr. Patrick Poulier said that retail investors are beginning to prioritize investing in bonds due to their relatively low risk and higher returns compared to deposits and government bonds. In 2023, retail investors accounted for the largest proportion of bondholders at 39% of the market and interest in trading has been increasing. Investment in private bonds is a very attractive option, and, in addition to investment risk diversification, offers higher returns than government bonds.
To facilitate more convenient bonds trading, SCB is introducing a new service: Trading bonds in the secondary market via an EASY-D Debenture account as an investment option for retail investors to let them turn their savings into investments with higher returns. The service offers well-curated investment-grade bonds that help increase investment liquidity for bondholders. It responds to retail investors who are increasingly interested in trading private bonds in the secondary market, as they can trade any time and gain returns in line with their needs during the period they prefer. Furthermore, it helps investors seeking bonds not offered in the primary market at a particular time to access bonds easily, quickly, and securely.
Trading bonds in the secondary market via an EASY-D Debenture account will help grow the number of retail investors in the SCB EASY app and boost the Bank's total digital revenues to achieve its goal of 25% by 2025.
Customers with an EASY-D Debenture account can trade bonds in the secondary market instantly via the SCB EASY app. Those who do not have an EASY-D Debenture account can register to open one via the SCB EASY app and start trading right away as well. Bond trading is available 24/7. After making a trading transaction on the SCB EASY app, the transaction amount will be debited from the account selected by the customer for bond trading. Customers will receive bond updates and notifications via e-mail.
