Ponix, leader of clean energy for the new generation and comprehensive solar cell system solution provider, has partnered with Caltex, by SPRC subsidiary, Star Fuels Marketing Limited (SFL), the exclusive licensee of Caltex fuels in Thailand, to allocate station areas to install solar rooftops at Caltex fuel service stations in support of efficient use of renewable energy by using solar energy at service stations. Ponix has installed solar rooftop at 4 Caltex fuel service stations and plans to increase to 50 stations nationwide in 2025. The installations are expected to help saving electricity costs by 50% per station.
Pongsakorn Narkvichian, Chief Executive Officer of Ponix Company Limited revealed "Currently, alternative energy development and utilization have become a trend that has received a lot of attention worldwide not only in terms of its contribution to environmental conservation but also to energy security promotion. Solar energy has been one of the fastest growing forms of alternative energy over the past decade. In Thailand, solar cell market has continuously posted a high growth rate. In addition, the government promotes solar cell installations to generate electricity for household usage. At the same time, the industrial sector has also been encouraged to increase installations of solar panels to reduce energy costs and help lower greenhouse gas emissions. As a result, the solar cell market in Thailand has experienced continuous growth of 22% on average per year, which will amount to more than 67.268 billion Thai Baht in 2025. Our initiative aims to support the Thai government's goal to achieve carbon neutrality in 2050 and net zero greenhouse gas emission in 2065."
"Ponix, the leader of clean energy for the new generation, recognizes the opportunity to support Goal 7 of UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which is to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all as well as to reinforce our commitment in growing our clean energy business with an emphasis on solar rooftops. Therefore, Ponix has partnered with Caltex to allocate station areas to install solar rooftop systems at Caltex service stations. The installations are targeted to help reduce operating costs of stations and can lead to electricity savings estimated at 73,000 kWh per station per year. This partnership is considered an important collaboration to fulfill the business interests of both parties by leveraging strengths, competency, and expertise from both parties to enhance business opportunity while supporting energy efficiency."
