Big C's newest distribution centre is a state-of-the-art built-to-suit facility featuring a cross-dock layout, designed to efficiently handle large volumes of incoming and outgoing goods. With a towering storage height of up to 14 metres and a robust floor capacity ranging from 3.5 to 6 tons per sqm, it accommodates both conventional and temperature-controlled storage at 25 degree Celsius, ensuring the integrity of pharmaceutical and cosmetic products. Equipped with flexible storage systems including selective rack, which allows users to pick the desired items immediately, and micro rack for storing small items, the facility can store more than 90,000 pallets and ship over 400,000 boxes per day.
Furthermore, the Big C Bang Pa-in distribution centre stands out for its commitment to sustainability with the implementation of cutting-edge green technologies, aimed at reducing energy consumption. This includes the installation of a 998-kilowatt solar panel array and a sophisticated electrical system, resulting in a significant reduction of carbon dioxide emissions by 1,920 tons annually, comparable to the planting of 37,700 trees each year. Additionally, the centre is equipped with infrastructure to accommodate electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, in line with its emphasis on green logistics. It also incorporates water-saving fixtures and highly efficient resource management systems, reducing water usage within the facility by 50% and non-recyclable waste by up to 87% compared to traditional buildings based on legal requirements. Moreover, the centre is actively pursuing LEED green building certification standards.
