Huawei Boosts Thailand's Healthcare Summit Joining Forces with Partners to Support a Comprehensive Smart Healthcare Ecosystem

Huawei continues to host the Huawei Intelligent Healthcare Summit 2024 under the concept of "Accelerating Healthcare Intelligence". This exclusive event is held within the Asia-Pacific ICT Summit 2024, a major ICT technology expo co-organized by Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES), Huawei and industry partner GSMA, another significant regional event in Thailand at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.

Mr. William Zhang, President of Enterprise Business, Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd., revealed that the healthcare industry is facing major changes and adapting to new methods of patient care. Hospital and healthcare facility management is being revolutionized by the adoption of digital tools and systems. These digital advancements not only elevate medical processes but also increase operational efficiency, resulting in a transformed overall patient experience.

As a leading ICT provider, Huawei is building a secure and sustainable digital foundation for the healthcare industry. Recently, the company officially launched an upgraded version of the Intelligent Campus Solution: Campus IOC and Campus Security to support enhanced service efficiency of network infrastructure. Key features include not only network speed and reduced carbon emissions but also a self-evolving intelligent system that is easier to use. It comprises important functions of the Intelligent Operating Center, with outstanding security features that not only help manage various devices connected to the same network easily but also come with intelligence that ensures the organization's network system can operate stably and securely.

"According to Thailand Vision 2030, the government will promote the healthcare industry as a global hub for comprehensive care, leveraging Thailand's world-renowned healthcare system. To strengthen this position further, Huawei is confident and pleased to support the digital transformation and intelligent systems of Thailand's healthcare industry. We will continue to engage with the industry and form strategic partnerships with customers and partners to support Thailand's healthcare industry in achieving greater success," said Mr. Zhang.

Mr. Prayuth TungsaNgob Chief Technology Officer, Enterprise Business, Huawei Technologies (Thailand)., emphasized that Huawei proposes a framework for creating digital hospitals, which is the foundation for modern medical services for the public. This framework follows the principle of 1+3+1+1, where 1 refers to an intelligent hospital management system, 3 represents smart services including smart healthcare, smart services, and smart management, along with 1 central platform system to consolidate all data, and 1 comprehensive network system encompassing Wi-Fi 7, Fiber to the Office, and 5G. All of this forms the framework for building digital hospitals to enhance medical effectiveness with cutting-edge technology.

Meanwhile, Dr. Amporn Benjaponpitak, Director-General of Department of Medical Services, Ministry of Public Health, revealed that the future policies of the Ministry of Public Health mainly focus on technology for medical services. This includes implementing Smart OPD (Outpatient Department) systems and intelligent management, as well as ensuring the security of health data. All of these are currently under development, with a primary focus on creating technologies that address widespread usage requirements.

Assist. Prof. Sithakom Phusanti, M.D., Assistant Dean for Policy and Planning, Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, stated that change is not easy, and that promoting digital literacy among staff is a time-consuming process.

"We have executives who prioritize this issue, wanting staff to have sufficient knowledge. This has led to training and self-learning initiatives. At the same time, the hospital has begun using an application-based campus management system and is developing towards becoming more of a smart campus," said Assist. Prof. Sithakom.

Tullawat Pacharapha M.D., Ph.D., Chief Operating Officer, Vejthani Hospital, spoke about the use of technology in patient care at the hospital. This includes the implementation of a Mobile-enabled EMR system, which allows for patient care to be managed at the bedside using mobile devices. The hospital also employs the EMRAM standard to improve operational assessments through the use of EMR. Additionally, the role of Generative AI is expected to enhance the utilization of EMR in the future.

During this event, Huawei was honored to partner with those who have applied technology to create innovations better suited for local users, collectively showcasing health technology in the exhibition zone. For example, Mutrack, a developer of a high-performance IoT platform, helps track and manage medical equipment while collecting critical real-time data, focusing on improving operational efficiency and reducing healthcare costs. Another collaborator, 2N2T Connection, provides a solution that connects healthcare between hospitals and patients' residences, emphasizing comfort and efficiency in ongoing health management.

This collaboration between Huawei and its partners demonstrates a commitment to developing a comprehensive intelligent health ecosystem that will enhance healthcare in Thailand, making it more advanced and efficient in diagnosis, treatment, and hospital management.
