(AOTGA), in collaboration with Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT) and Thai Customs, today marks the grand opening of Thailand's first comprehensive logistics transportation solution, 'Multimodal Transportation Center,' at Suvarnabhumi Airport Free Zone (Zone 3). This facility integrates multiple modes of transportation, including land, rail, sea and air, while enabling complete customs clearance procedures at a single point. At the first stage, the center is capable of handling over 50,000 tons of cargo per year, positioning Thailand as a leading aviation hub in the region. The center also develops partnerships with industry titans FedEx, DHL and AGS. The launch is honored by the presence of Mr. Siriwat Tovachirakul, President of AOT Ground Aviation Services Co., Ltd. (AOTGA), and Mr. Phantong Loykulnanta, Principal Advisor on Duty Collection Management and Development at Thai Customs.
Mr. Siriwat Tovachirakul, President of AOT Ground Aviation Services Co., Ltd. (AOTGA), a leading provider of ground services and cargo terminal operations at airports, discloses that the Thai Customs has granted permission to AOT to launch the 'Multimodal Transportation Center' at Suvarnabhumi Airport Free Zone (Zone 3). AOT then subsequently appointed AOTGA to run the center. This pivotal collaboration marks a transformative moment for Thailand's logistics industry, offering seamless connecting of all modes of transportation - land, rail, sea and air?along with centralized cargo handling and storage and a complete customs clearance at a single point. This initiative not only creates new business opportunities and supports the growth of e-commerce but also elevates Thailand to the forefront of evolving into a significant logistics hub for the region.
With an investment of over 150 million baht and spanning across an area of over 4,872 square meters, the Multimodal Transportation Center is divided into two key service areas: 1) Fixed Area - designated for private sector transport operators who are joint operators of the 'Multimodal Transportation Center'. And 2) Public Area - solely managed and operated by AOTGA. The center aims to cater to both domestic and international transport operators, particularly those involved in international freight forwarding and express consignment services. Special emphasis is placed on the air cargo sector, which has shown remarkable growth due to Thailand's strategic positioning as a hub for CLMV countries and a focus on e-commerce goods. This growth is driven by aviation-related factors and a robust network connecting of Thailand to other continents, especially Europe. Additionally, AOTGA has incorporated advanced innovations into the services provided at this center. These include a customs tracking system from the customs checkpoint to the center using an electronic lock system (E-lock System) and an E-Inventory System for inventory control.
Mr. Phantong Loykulnanta, Principal Advisor on Duty Collection Management and Development at Thai Customs, reveals that the establishment of the Multimodal Transportation Center at Suvarnabhumi Airport Free Zone (Zone 3) was in accordance with Customs Department Notification No. 115/2564 and established to facilitate trade and bolster Thailand's position as a regional logistics hub. This momentous collaboration is expected to greatly enhance the efficiency of the import-export process, improve competitiveness and streamline customs procedures, thereby modernizing the overall ecosystem. Thai Customs is pleased to support the private sector in alignment with the government's policy to advance Thailand as a regional aviation hub.
The event is also honored by the participation of executives from leading global transport companies, including Federal Express Corporation, DHL Global Forwarding Thailand Co., Ltd. (DHL), and Asia Ground Service Co., Ltd. (AGS), who engage in a panel discussion on the topic "Multimodal Transportation Center" - A Giant Solution to a Regional Aviation Hub.'
