Bangkok Dusit Medical Services PLC. (BDMS), one of the most prestigious hospital networks in the Asia-Pacific region, today announced a significant step towards enhancing its sustainability commitments by entering into a green deposit initiative with UOB Thailand. This partnership signifies BDMS's dedication to promoting environmental sustainability within the healthcare sector.
In a groundbreaking move, BDMS has deposited a substantial amount with UOB's Green Term Deposit programme, which aligns with the Bank's ongoing efforts to finance environmentally responsible projects. The funds will be earmarked exclusively for loans within UOB's comprehensive sustainable finance frameworks, including renewable energy, energy efficiency, green building construction, and other environmentally-beneficial endeavors all in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).
As a leader in the healthcare industry, BDMS is committed not only to providing exceptional medical care but also to ensuring that its operations contribute positively to the environment. The green deposit with UOB is a testament to BDMS's broader sustainability strategy, which includes reducing carbon footprints, enhancing energy efficiency across all facilities, and championing eco-friendly healthcare practices.
Mrs Narumol Noi-Am, Chief Financial Officer of BDMS, remarked, "We are proud to partner with UOB in this green deposit initiative, which underscores our commitment to sustainable and responsible business practices. Our collaboration with UOB allows us to ensure that our financial assets support projects that are beneficial to the environment, reflecting BDMS's dedication to promoting a healthier planet."

We are thrilled to welcome BDMS as a partner in this venture and look forward to ongoing journey towards greater environmental stewardship."
"Through this partnership, BDMS will receive an annual report detailing the industries and environmental impacts their deposits have facilitated via UOB's sustainable financing projects. This information will not only be a valuable resource for BDMS to integrate into their sustainability reporting but will also strengthen their commitment to transparency and accountability in their ESG efforts", added Ms Tansavatdi.
