mai-listed companies report strong nine-month performance with total sales of THB 155.84 billion and net profit of THB 6.30 billion

mai President Prapan Charoenprawatt said that 213 companies, accounting for 97 percent of the total 220 mai-listed companies (excluding those in the non-compliance or NC list and those with different closing date for accounting periods), already submitted their financial results for the nine-month period of 2024. Of these, 151 companies or 71 percent of the total companies reported net profits.

mai-listed firms recorded total sales of THB 155.84 billion (approx. USD 4.83 billion), marking a 5.9 percent year-on-year growth, while costs of sales rose at a slower pace of 4.2 percent to THB 115.28 billion and selling, general and administrative (SG&A) expenses increased 4.6 percent to THB 29.20 billion. This contributed to stronger profit growth across all metrics, with gross profit rising 10.9 percent to THB 40.57 billion, operating profit surging 31.0 percent to THB 11.36 billion, and net profit growing 27.2 percent to THB 6.30 billion. Profitability remained strong with gross profit margin at 26.0 percent, operating profit margin at 7.3 percent and net profit margin at 4.0 percent, up 1.1 percentage points, 1.4 percentage points and 0.6 percentage point respectively year-on-year.

The overall nine-month performance of mai-listed companies remains strong, supported by robust operating results in the first half, though growth momentum decelerated in the third quarter with sales and operating profits showing modest year-on-year increases of 3.9 percent and 4.9 percent respectively. Sales growth was observed across most industries, with the exception of the Resources Industry Group which recorded a decline. Three Industry Groups demonstrated positive growth in sales, core operating profit, and net profit were Agro & Food Industry, Property & Construction, and Services," said mai President.

On financial position, mai-listed companies reported total assets of THB 329.23 billion, up 4.0 percent from the end of 2023, with the debt-to-equity (D/E) ratio remaining unchanged from the previous year at 0.78 times.

As of November 22, 2024, there were 220 mai-listed companies and mai index closed at 322.57 points, with a total market capitalization of THB 311.81 billion and an average daily trading value
of THB 1.55 billion.
