Dr. Worawarong Rakreungdet, Principal of Mahidol Wittayanusorn School, has made history as the first Thai to be elected President of the Global Network of Leading Science Schools.

Following the successful organization of the International Students Science Fair (ISSF 2025) by the Ministry of Education and MWIT in honor of the 70th birthday of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, Dr. Worawarong announced his appointment. The event, held from January 26-31, brought together 26 elite science schools from 17 countries, including top-tier institutions from Singapore, the United Kingdom, South Korea, and Australia.

"The Global Network of Leading Science Schools has elected me as its new President, succeeding the previous leader who retired after serving for 11 years since the network's founding in 2014. This marks the first time a Thai national has been honored with this prestigious position," Dr. Worawarong said.

He further emphasized his commitment to fulfilling his role to the best of his ability, enhancing Thailand's reputation in global science education. He also aims to apply insights gained from ISSF to develop an internationally standardized "curriculum of the future" at MWIT and expand its implementation to other leading science schools in Thailand, such as Chulabhorn Science Schools and other institutions specializing in advanced science education.
