"CONSTELLATION" of Artistic Cosmos

Beneath the velvet canopy of the cosmos, stars gather like scattered dreams, whispering ancient secrets to those who dare to listen. Humans were mesmerized by the mystery of the sky long before they could describe it; if you wonder how long, I might say - for as long as there have been star-counting years.

Like how each twinkling light holds a treasure of its own, glowing with hues of individuality, so too does the artist. Each brings their distinct brilliance - diverse in style and vision - to craft, create, and whisper their unique soul into their work. Some stars burn brightly; others shimmer softly; much the same, artists vary in their hands of creation, distinct in the clay of their conception or the paths they orbit.

And so, under the cover of twilight, the constellation unfolded, its stars falling like glistening petals onto the world below. The Art Auction Center proudly presents "CONSTELLATION," the exhibition where we weave these celestial fragments into a single, luminous tale. Together, their creations form something more significant than the sum of their parts. In the vast realm of art, there are no solitary works, no creations without connection. Each masterpiece holds a thread that binds it to another, its meaning deepened by the collective light it shares.

May you find your constellation tonight, a star that calls to you, a piece of eternity to carry home.

Mr. Piriya Vachajitpan, a co-founder of leading auction house "The Art Auction Center", says, "The "CONSTELLATION" exhibition and auction is akin to weaving stars into stories within the world of art. Each piece carries its own meaning and value, much like the stars shining in the universe. We hope that everyone will find works that profoundly exude spirit and beauty, and also discover their own "constellation" on an artistic night."

Prominent Stars at the "CONSTELLATION"

Highlights of this exhibition and auction are:

Thawan Duchanee: "ELEPHANT MAN" (1972) / Ballpoint pen on paper

"The artwork "ELEPHANT MAN" by Thawan Duchanee depicts a character from the Ramakian epic, a twin demon born of Tosakanth (Ravana) and a female elephant. The character has an elephant's head and a giant's body. Thawan reinterpreted the character by combining various animal forms and human muscles to create a unique artistic symbol. The work evokes

intense emotions and stimulates the subconscious through the predatory eyes of the creature. Thawan's ink drawings showcase an exceptional level of meticulous detail. His larger-scale line drawings were typically created during the early stages of his career, shortly after graduating. The technique demanded great perseverance, reflecting the artist's physical and emotional dedication. This piece was once exhibited at the Goethe-Institut Thailand."

Pratuang Emjaroen: "NATURAL PHENOMENON" (1985) / Oil on Canvas

"This artwork was created in 1985 when the artist's development reached a harmonious balance of skill and the ability to present the dimensions of nature. The artist used yellow tones and gradations of light and dark to skillfully depict the atmosphere, the earth, and intricate details. The cleanliness of the colors creates a bright and vivid light, reflecting the grandeur of nature. At the same time, the artist subtly incorporated cooler tones in just the right amount as well. The artist captured his emotions directly from the actual location onto the canvas; therefore, the work communicates effectively with the audience. It helps draw their focus deeply into different dimensions of nature. The artist crafted intricate details beautifully, such as golden rice ears bursting with grains. The directional brushstrokes give the impression that the scene in the painting is alive, swaying gently in the breeze.

Prakit (Jitr) Buabusaya: "CANADA" (1996) / Oil on Canvas

"Prakit (Jitr) Buabusaya was one of the pioneering Thai artists who explored the Impressionist style. In 1941, he traveled to Japan to further his studies, where he studied under a Japanese professor who had been a direct disciple of Claude Monet. Upon returning to Thailand, Prakit ceased painting for an extended period due to his demanding government career. However, after retiring, he was inspired to return to his artistic pursuits. This landscape painting was created during his trip to Canada. The artwork skillfully showcases the artist's emotions with sophistication. The artist employs blue tones to bring depth and carefully integrates warm tones to enrich the atmosphere. This interplay of colors creates a nuanced portrayal of a cold environment softened by the gentle warmth of sunlight."

Natee Utarit: "FRAGMENT AND THE SUBLIME NO.5" (2006) / Oil on Canvas

"This oil painting by Natee Utarit is part of The Fragment and the Sublime exhibition, presented at Valentine Willie Fine Art in 2006. The series is distinguished by its linear painting

technique and the artist's signature color palette. What makes this work particularly compelling is its blend of abstraction and identifiable details within the composition. The work can be interpreted as reflecting the complexities of modern society. The artist explores contemporary contexts by employing concepts from Western art as a communicative tool and deconstructing classical imagery to propose hypotheses about the duality of truth within the intricacies of the modern world."

Tawee Nandakwang: "Lotus" (1988) / Acrylic on Canvas

"The artwork "Lotus" by Tawee Nandakwang is part of the renowned Bamboo and Lotus series. Tawee is known for his distinctive ability to convey the beauty of nature. While this landscape painting captures the natural world, it evokes a surreal atmosphere. The composition, guided by leading lines and the forms of bamboo and lotus clusters, quickly draws the viewer's emotion. The use of colors creates a serene, meditative ambiance and tranquility. Professor Silpa Bhirasri, his mentor, also greatly admired his skill."

Mit Jai Inn: "UNTITLED" / Oil on Canvas

"Mit Jai Inn is a contemporary artist known for his versatility in creating works across various mediums, including painting, sculpture, and installation art. His unique style involves the use of natural colors in light tones that convey a sense of ease and freshness. This painting is from an earlier period in his career, where the color is bold and large in scale. While the work may appear simple at first glance, it conceals complex techniques beneath its surface. The piece involves a significant amount of physical effort. The painting is built up in layers, and as the top layer cracks, the underlying colors emerge, creating a visual texture that enhances the depth and dynamic quality of the work."

Pratuang Emjaroen: "JEANNE D'ARC, PARIS" (2006) / Oil on Canvas

"This piece by Pratuang Emjaroen was created later in the artist's career. It reflects a stage of crystallized artistic development, marking a refinement phase. He uses a palette knife to apply thick oil paint onto the canvas directly from its tube. The work depicts the "Jeanne D'Arc monument in Paris, painted by the artist on location. What makes this piece compelling is its sense of freedom, unbound by any constraints. It reveals the artist's uninhibited experimentation, showcasing his liberated and exploratory approach gained through his artistic experiences over time."

The event also feature works by new-generation artists such as Thongmai Thepram, Molly, Benzilla, Muebon, and Gongkan. Using modern concepts and techniques, these artistic creations sharply and intriguingly reflect contemporary society.
