The serene sanctuary of Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle, where nature's embrace meets cultural immersion, sets the stage for renewal and for a boost of energy when needed. As the year unfolds, the Camp offers an exclusive collection of experiences designed to inspire rejuvenation, mindfulness, and connection, setting the tone for the adventures that lie ahead. "We invite guests to begin the year with an immersive adventure at the Golden Triangle," says Paweena Waraha, Camp Manager, "Jungle-clad and action-oriented, the camp is an explorer's paradise with wilderness trials, riverboat rides, and a host of exciting activities for those who venture here."
Lavishly appointed tents along the scenic Ruak River and a tree-fringed Explorer's Lodge are tucked away into the dense bamboo jungle that comprises much of the Golden Triangle. Here, guests can expect to be pampered in true Four Seasons style, while experiencing a oneness with nature and a truly authentic Northern Thai getaway. Paweena has a few personal recommendations for guests looking to begin the year on an expedition to the Golden Triangle:
1. Jungle Trail Adventure: A Land Rover Picnic
"This safari-style drive into the wilderness aboard our trusted Land Rover takes you deep into the peninsula. You will find yourself surrounded by sweeping views of the jungle before settling in a scenic spot for a Champagne sundowner and chef's own selection of picnic snacks atop the vehicle as the roosting birds call it a day," she shares.
2. Inspired by the Bamboos: Relaxation at the Jungle Spa
One of the most rewarding aspects of a visit to the Tented Camp is the proximity to nature and the seclusion one feels while staying in this blissful environment. Designed to serve as an open-air retreat of wellness, the spa at the Camp resonates with the sounds of the jungle. "Guests looking to unwind may try the Ruak Bamboo massage that blends ancient Thai techniques of massage using gently heated bamboo batons to release tension and restore vitality? the perfect way to begin a year of wellbeing and healing," suggests Paweena.
3. Starry Nights: Wine & Cheese Tasting
The Camp team prides itself on bespoke experiences where every detail is crafted to indulge its guests individually. One such special treat is the Wine and Cheese degustation at Wine Cellar - an enchanted evening of vintage wines and artisanal cheeses, served al fresco under a starry sky.
4. Colours of Chiang Rai: Make Merit for a Joyful Start
A cultural journey through Chiang Rai has its own rewards, as the landscape transitions from riverine jungle to temple towns and colourful tribal villages up in the mountains. The colours of Chiang Rai is a cultural exploration, specially curated to offer a glimpse into the local way of life and the many wonderful facets that comprise this unique destination. "Sights along the tour include the mesmerising White Temple - a masterpiece of modern Thai art and spirituality in Chiang Rai. "The Blue Temple is one of the stops, known as the 'House of the Dancing Tiger' with its vibrant, kaleidoscopic Buddhist imagery," the Camp Manager shares.
5. Learn the Journey of Fabric: Weaving with Locals
"Heritage is big part of what we like to offer our guests while on property," she continues, "Here, age old communities practice a way of life that remains largely unchanged for hundreds of years. From medieval fishing practices with woven rattan traps, to traditional weaving techniques on handlooms by Chinese settlers from Xishuangbanna, there is so much to see and do." A visit to Wanglao village, where the Chinese community settled after journeying via Ken Tung in Myanmar, is especially rewarding for its distinct textile weaves and a local cultivar of dwarf pineapple. "We encourage guests to make this trip and witness first-hand this community's rich cultural legacy and connection to the land," says Paweena.
January and February are when the Golden Triangle is its element - with crisp, cool mornings, clear skies and stunning sunrises and sunsets across the mountains. Guests visiting this time of the year, get the ultimate glimpse into what makes this spectacular destination so unique. "Kick on those hardy explorer boots and make your way to the Camp for an action-packed start to the year!" she smiles.
