
depa hosts the grand Thailand Digital IP Forum 2025: Cracking IP Challenges in the AI-Driven World, a seminar aimed at spreading knowledge and raising awareness of the value and significance of digital intellectual property. The event promotes a better understanding of patent and petty patent applications, along with key relevant issues. Leading experts from various related organizations participate in discussions, sharing insights and strategies for managing intellectual property to enhance the competitiveness of Thailand's digital business sector.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Nuttapon Nimmanphatcharin, President/CEO of Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa), presided over the opening of the Thailand Digital IP Forum 2025, held under the theme Cracking IP Challenges in the AI-Driven World. This seminar aims to disseminate knowledge and raise awareness of the value and importance of digital intellectual property while promoting a better understanding of patent and petty patent applications. It also covers key issues beneficial to digital entrepreneurs, startups, investors, academics and the public. The event features leading experts from various organizations, including the Department of Intellectual Property, Damnern Somkiat & Boonma Law Office Co., Ltd., Intellectual Design Group Co., Ltd., JTJB International Lawyers Co., Ltd., Digital Corporate Management Co., Ltd. and ILCT Ltd. These experts share insights and strategies on intellectual property management to enhance the competitiveness of Thailand's digital business sector.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Nuttapon stated that depa has always prioritized the promotion and protection of intellectual property in the digital industry. At the same time, the agency actively encourages and supports the filing of digital intellectual property rights, both domestically and internationally, through the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) system. This initiative aims to provide entrepreneurs with full access to opportunities for protecting their intellectual property rights.
Furthermore, depa has registered the dSURE symbol, an international standard for Thai digital products or services. Following certification, depa facilitates the adoption of products and services bearing the dSURE symbol and registered in the Digital Service Account. The Digital Service Account serves as a mechanism to compile qualified digital products and services from Thai entrepreneurs and digital service providers. These offerings meet standard requirements, maintain quality, offer reasonable prices, and are certified with the dSURE symbol. This initiative aims to provide entrepreneurs with access to both public and private sector markets, leading to new investment opportunities and expansion into the international market.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Nuttapon then delivered a special lecture on Accelerating the Digital Economy with AI Innovation: Stepping into a Transformative Future. He emphasized that AI technology is currently a key driver of the global economy. Citing data from Gartner, a world-leading research and advisory company, he highlighted a projection that by 2027, Generative AI solutions will grow by 40% due to their enhanced ability to integrate data from various sources efficiently. This advancement expands AI's benefits and enhances human productivity, making it a crucial factor in gaining a competitive edge. It is also transforming digital startups and SMEs, enabling them to scale rapidly. For Thailand, the application of AI in technology and business development is essential for boosting economic potential and fully propelling the nation into the digital era.
Moreover, the attendees of the Thailand Digital IP Forum 2025 also participated in the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the promotion of intellectual property to drive the digital industry and innovation, between depa and the Department of Intellectual Property. They also attended in-depth lectures and seminars from leading Thai intellectual property experts, including Adjunct Professor Vichai Ariyanuntaka, former Senior Judge of the Central Intellectual Property and International Trade Court and Advisor to the Thailand Arbitration Institute, Office of the Judiciary (TAI). The topics covered included: Smart Exploitation of AI on the Intellectual Property Path, AI Patents and Strategies for Attracting Capital, Opportunities and Challenges in Training AI with Copyrighted Data, Decoding Generative AI to Create Intellectual Property for the Digital Content Market, The Achievable PCT System in the Digital Age and AI and Enhancing Human Capital Potential in Business Organizations.
Additionally, the event featured presentations from digital entrepreneurs who have received support for digital intellectual property protection. There were also exhibition booths showcasing AI innovations from partner organizations supported by depa, as well as intellectual property consultation booths from the Department of Intellectual Property and leading law firms in the country. Moreover, the event facilitated project proposal submissions for filing or registering digital intellectual property rights. This year, applications remain open to individuals, legal entities, SMEs, and digital startups until March 31.
