Siam Piwat reaffirms its position as the No. 1 developer of global destinations, with its malls certified as Thailand's first 100% carbon neutral shopping centers

Siam Piwat Group, a leading real estate and retail developer, the owner and operator of world-class destinations such as Siam Paragon, Siam Center, and Siam Discovery, and a joint owner of ICONSIAM and Siam Premium Outlets Bangkok, has raised the bar for the Thai retail real estate industry, with its shopping centers awarded carbon offset and carbon neutral certification by the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization), making them the "first shopping centers in Thailand" to achieve this recognition. This underscores Siam Piwat's commitment as a model organization that prioritizes economic, social, and environmental responsibility in a tangible manner.

Dr. Chalermchai Sri-on, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, stated, "I am truly pleased to see Siam Piwat Group, a leading real estate and retail developer with an international reputation, prioritizing decarbonization, which is a key approach to addressing climate change. As the first organization in the shopping center business to achieve 100% carbon offset certification, Siam Piwat has established itself as a commendable model for other businesses, inspiring them to actively prioritize and tackle this issue."

Dr. Phirun Saiyasitpanich, Director-General of the Department of Climate Change and Environment, said, "Thailand is currently grappling with the challenges of global climate change and their impact on people's lives. This collaboration with Siam Piwat Group, the developer of shopping centers that host hundreds of thousands of visitors daily, serves as a vital model for public-private partnerships in effectively addressing climate change and fostering climate resilience across all sectors. We must accelerate our efforts to enhance our decarbonization strategies so as to ultimately achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2065."

Dr. Natarika Wayuparb Nitiphon, Deputy Director and Acting Director of the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization, stated, "Global warming is not only a national issue but also impacts everyone across the world. I am delighted that a private sector leader like Siam Piwat Group recognizes and champions the importance of decarbonization. The Group has continuously maintained Carbon Footprint for Organization (CFO) certification since 2020, and this year, they have achieved 100% carbon offsetting for their greenhouse gas emissions, making their shopping centers the first to apply for and successfully obtain this certification. This represents a significant collaboration that aligns with Thailand's context and the world's shared goals of driving tangible solutions to environmental challenges."

Ms. Naratipe Ruttapradid, Chief Operating Officer of Siam Piwat Co., Ltd., added, "For over 66 years, Siam Piwat has consistently demonstrated its commitment to responsible business practices and sustainability principles. This certification is a significant achievement and a source of pride, as the shopping centers within our group, namely Siam Paragon, Siam Center, and Siam Discovery, as well as Siam Piwat Tower, are the first in Thailand to receive the Carbon Neutral certification from the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization) in recognition of our success in achieving 100% carbon offsetting of our Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions, equivalent to planting 2,528,840 trees."

Furthermore, Paragon Hall, the world-class convention and exhibition center on the 5th floor of Siam Paragon, is also the first venue of its kind in Thailand to maintain Carbon Footprint of Product certification and Carbon Neutral certification from the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization) since 2019. Meanwhile, ICONSIAM, ICS, and True ICON Hall have consistently maintained their Carbon Footprint for Organization certification."

Ms. Naratipe, alongside Ms. Kritsana Janyasakulwong, Managing Director, Siam Alliance Management Co., Ltd., and Mr. Anont Attawiboon, Chief Operating Officer of ICONSIAM Co., Ltd., attended the certificate presentation ceremony. The event was hosted by the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization at the Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ) in Bangkok, with Dr. Chalermchai Sri-on, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, presiding over the ceremony and presenting the certificates to the certified organizations.

Recognizing the urgent need to address the ever-intensifying global warming and climate change, Siam Piwat Group has implemented decarbonization policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in alignment with Thailand's national reduction targets and has consistently applied energy-saving measures while promoting the efficient and eco-conscious use of resources according to circular economy principles, with the key goals of achieving zero waste to landfill by 2040 and net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
