
Beautifully crisp asparagus takes centre stage throughout May and June in a special menu at Fireplace Grill and Bar at InterContinental Bangkok, which has been delighting patrons with quality European cuisine since 1966.
Packed with antioxidants and high in vitamins and minerals, asparagus is a superfood and it plays the superstar role this summer in three- and four-course meals that include stand-out starters such as marinated mackerel with white asparagus, burrata cheese, caper leaves and tomatoes, and a refreshing tuna tartare served with raw asparagus salad, crispy egg yolk and a sauce of wild garlic leaves.
In fact, asparagus pairs so well with seafood that a highlight of the main course selection is a wonderful dish of slow-cooked Australian Fremantle octopus with green asparagus, potatoes, sun dried tomatoes and a citrusy lemon butter sauce. A hearty alternative from the land though is a signature serving of roasted Australian lamb with white asparagus dressed in a rich coffee reduction and orange and red wine jus.
A zesty summer dessert of Elderflower Citrus comprising almond dacquoise, elderflower mousse, lemon chamomile curd, honey thyme jelly and white chocolate crunch rounds out a delicious meal.
