Bangkok--16 Feb--Scania Siam
Scania Siam Co., Ltd (Scania Siam) today announced the official opening of its new head office in Samutprakarn. The sprawling complex — worth some THB 240 million to construct — is also home to Scania Siam’s newest service centre, equipped with the latest high technology facilities for service and maintenance works.
Mr Vichai Jirathiyut, Managing Director of Scania Siam said, “Scania Siam is proud to enter our 9th year of operations in Thailand this year. We always work with a pure heart, and constantly strive to deliver quality products and services into the market.”
“Our new Samutprakarn centre — situated on a 6.4 acre piece of land, twice as big as our old office in Chatuchak — shows our commitment to customers in providing the most up-to-date after-sales facilities for our customers. It will house our new corporate offices, showroom, sales office, test drive area and or course, the service and parts centre,” he added.
Another unique feature of the building is a 25m long test drive lane. “We can now test drive the vehicles in-house after service or repairs are completed, without having to go out onto public roads. This reduces the risk not only on our staff but also on customers’ vehicles and other public road users. We can now perform brake, acceleration and retarder testing in complete safety. This also reduces the amount of time customers need to wait for their vehicles to be ready,” he added.
The service centre is Scania Siam’s newest and latest to date, which brings the levels of service of heavy commercial vehicles in Thailand to a whole new level. “This service centre is fully equipped with the latest tools and equipment,” said Mr Vichai. “Our brake tester machine, for example, is probably the most sophisticated in Thailand available for trucks and buses. All it takes is 5 minutes to professionally diagnose the condition of the vehicle’s brakes. We also offer to conduct this brake test on other brands of trucks and buses.”
More importantly, the new service centre in Samutprakarn is seen as another step in expanding the Scania service network in Thailand, reaching out to more customers and providing even more quality and efficient services. “It enables our customers to tap on our global expertise,” said Mr Vichai.
For 2008, Mr Vichai said the company recently reported an increase in revenues of 5 percent year-on-year; with market shares of 0.3 percent for truck, 4.4 percent for haulage and 21.6 percent for buses. For 2009, Scania Siam will further concentrate on hazardous material transport (e.g fuel and chemicals) for trucks, and continued focus on fixed routes and tourist coaches to achieve a 10-15 percent sales growth.
And as always, Scania Siam is putting in a lot of effort and focus to further improve after-sales for customers, with Repair & Maintenance (R&M) and Maintenance contracts being key to growth. Scania Siam will also be further developing its Scania Assistance 24 hours roadside emergency service for customers, as well as raise the standards on all 6 other service centers across the country, including Samutprakarn, Hadyai, Surat-thani, Saraburi, Chonburi and Kampaengphet to support not only Thai operators but also regional transport traffic in the near future.
