General Situation at 04:00 AM local Time At 04.00 LST on 17 August, typhoon “KAI-TAK, due 200 kilometers east of Hainan, China, or latitude 20.5 degree north longitude 112.3 degree east, with sustained winds about 120 kilometers per hour, was moving west-northwest at speed of 25 kilometers per hour.

It is expected to make landfall over Hainan today morning (17 August) affecting increasing

in rainfalls over the country with isolated heavy to very heavy rain especially over the North

and the Northeast of Thailand during 17-19 August.

The strong wind-waves are likely in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf. All ships take more caution during 1-2 days.

The next advisory will be issued at 11.30 a.m.

The advisory is in effect for Thailand from 17 August 2012.

Northern Part Fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rain in Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Phayao, Nan and Tak.

Northeastern Part Fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy to very heavy rain in

Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nakhon Phanom, Sakon Nakhon, Mukdahan,

Amnat Charoen and Ubon Ratchathani.

Minimum temperature 23-24 C. Maximum temperature 29-32 C.

Westerly winds 10-30 km/hr.

Central Part Fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rain in Kanchanaburi and Ratchaburi.

Minimum temperature 24-25 C. Maximum temperature 32-34 C.

Southwesterly winds 15-30 km/hr.

Eastern Part Fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rain in Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat.

Minimum temperature 23-26 C. Maximum temperature 31-33 C.

Southwesterly winds 20-35 km/hr.

Wave height about 2 meters and above 2 meters in thundershower areas.

Southern Part (East Coast) Scattered thundershowers mostly in Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan,

Chumphon, Surat Thani and Nakhon Si Thammarat.
