"Cool in upper Thailand and Heavy Rain and strong Wind-waves in South"

No. 15 Time Issued : December 25, 2012

The active high pressure from China over upper Thailand is weakening. Cool to cold weather remain with windy over Thailand. The temperature will be below 16 ?C in parts of the North and the Northeast while high mountains see very cold with mainly isolated frost on mountaintops of the North. People are advised to keep themselves warm from cooler weather.

The strong northeast monsoon prevails over the Gulf of Thailand and the South leading to heavy somewhere of the areas. People should beware of these conditions during 25-26 December. The areas include Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat. Due to the strong wind-waves across the Gulf, people along the coast should beware of high wave inshore. All ships should proceed with caution, and small boats in the lower Gulf from Surat Thani downward keep ashore.

During the New Year festival (28 December - 2 January), another active high pressure from China will approach the upper country bringing about cool to cold continuously. Particularly, the North and the upper Northeast will see very cold in some places.
