"Tropical Cyclone “SONAMU” "

At 04.00 a.m. today (7 January), tropical storm “SONAMU” in the lower South China Sea, or at latitude 6.8 degree North and longitude 108.5 degree East with maximum sustained wind about 83 km/hr, was moving west-southwest with speed about 10 km/hr.
The storm will become weak and move to Malaysian coast during 7-8 January. More rain is expected with heavy somewhere of the South from Nakhon Si Thammarat downward during 7-9 January.
The strong high pressure still covers upper Thailand and the South China Sea causing cool to cold weather in the area. The minimum temperature below 16 ?C occurs much of the Northeast.
The moderate northeast monsoon prevails over the Gulf of Thailand. Waves about 2 meters high remain in the lower Gulf from Nakhon Si Thammarat downward. People along the coast should beware of high wave inshore. All ships should proceed with caution.
