General Situation at 04:00 AM local Time At 4.00 a.m. today, the tropical depression that formed over the middle South China Sea, was centered about 850 kilometers southeast of Hainan Island or Latitude 14.5 degree North, Longitude 116.0 degree East, with sustained winds of 55 km/hr, was moving west-northwest slowly. The depression is forecast to develop into the tropical storm that trends to cover the Bay of Tonkin and make landfall on the Vietnamese shoreline during 2-4 August. The storm will have not significant impact on Thailand.
The rather strong southwest monsoon prevails over the Central, the East and the South. Scattered to fairly widespread rain and isolated heavy rain are likely over the country. The wind wave in the Andaman Sea is likely about 2 meters high. All ships should proceed with caution during 1-3 days.
